Florida's High Speed Rail Vision Plan envisions eventual statewide service, starting in the Tampa-Orlando-Miami corridor.
High Speed Rail is a state-of-the-art, world-class transportation system that provides efficient, reliable and comfortable city-to- city travel at speeds of 120 mph or greater. High speed trains contain modern amenities and conveniences, and are time and price competitive with other modes of transportation. Currently, several high speed rail systems operate in the United States, Europe and Asia. Amtrak's Acela Express trains operate at speeds in excess of 135 mph between Boston, New York and Washington, D.C.
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has invested heavily in the preservation of the high speed rail corridor within the median of Interstate 4. Florida's proposed high speed rail system will be constructed on tracks or overhead guideways completely separate from automobile traffic. Several high speed technologies exist in the marketplace today.
The estimated costs for the first two phases are:
· Tampa to Orlando - $3.5 billion
· Orlando to Miami - $8 billion (does not include right-of-way costs)
Are they going to charge 2000$/ticket or what.
That's greedy of them :buddy:
Its a goddamned train, not a state-of-the-art, world-class transportation system. Japan had this years ago.
I feel like a train system should be built between more...important places.
I mean, really. Florida?

Florida is the 4th most populated state in the country.

Yeah Florida has nothing, nothing at all
Miami is a lie
135mph is state of the art fast?
Oh, I thought with the TGV around and a bunch of maglevs in Japan and all that...
Florida is the 4th most populated state in the country.
but 3/4 of that is old people
but 3/4 of that is old people
For the Newlyweds and nearly deads! :buddy:
The train line isn't as great as it used to be, here in Britain.
And the underground has fuckloads of problems.
Its a shame train travel declined so rapidly in the U.S. after the airline industry took off.
Its a safer way to travel than by car, you get a chance to see some spectacular scenery, and if there is a wreck you stand a much, much better chance of surviving than a plane crash.

There are also maglevs in Germany and the UK, it's not very new anymore.
Florida is the 4th most populated state in the country.
But it's down there in that corner which nobody cares about.
Its more convienient to travel via train if going from orlando to tampa and back
I hope that they build this cause it is gonna pwnt unless tickets are extremely expensive
They have been talking about this for a while now :D
What? This isn't high-speed! When I read high-speed rail I expect 220 mph minimum.
But were not from japaniese land

You won't get a rectal exam with complimentary groping in a train.
I hope us British get better trains, I'm tired of all the trains either looking like this:

Key West... Ft. Lauderdale... Orlando...?
And anyway, the ICE train in Europe is much faster than this, so is Amtrak. Florida sucks at making a rail system. They should stop trying.

Stephen Fry said it's the opposite and whatever he says can't be wrong.
Honestly metro-rail is a joke, let them talk shit all they want. This is totally high tech yo.

Yeah but not in Florida
Yeah but not in Florida
Proof? I'm curious.
The United States needs a better public transportation train system.
I want to be able to go from Houston to New York in 5 hours.
Proof? I'm curious.
Dunno I've ridden it, it's not this "super awesome highspeed train" that we are supposedly gonna get.
What's it called?
I live in Florida! Fuck yeah! St. Petersburg FLORIDA BITCH
There are also maglevs in Germany and the UK, it's not very new anymore.
Neither Germany nor England have maglev trains.
