No, I'm not talking about the pretty box with moving pictures. Television is the name of the band. Anyway they are an art-punk group from New York City. Their debut album Marquee Moon came out in 1977. Then they made Adventure in 1978, and a self titled album a long time after in 1992. If you like any form of rock, then I guarantee you that you will love this band. Their guitarists are such amazing players and every note that they play are just fantastic. The bass and drum lines are good too but the guitar are in the spotlight here. I've only heard their first album, Marquee Moon, but it is just a fucking great album. Every song on it is great and memorable. No filler at all, just pure good songwriting. It's a shame that no one knows about them. Every review for this album was praising it and giving it perfect ratings, but the only people who know of it are music nerds and rock critics. So check it out.

Typical of Facepunch to ignore a thread like this. Marquee Moon is a great album, up there with early Costello and Talking Heads stuff (Talking Heads being my favourite band). Thanks!

Both of those are groups I admire also. My Aim Is True and Talking Head's 77 came out in the same year as Marquee Moon.
True, I love Talking Heads' debut, it's among my favourites. Their first four albums are perfect!
I haven't actually heard More Songs, but I can agree that the other three albums are great.
More Songs is a little bit like a Best Of, but with completely new material! They're all great songs, every single one of them.
You have good taste. Marquee Moon is one of my favorite guitar songs of all time, but that whole album is filled with epic guitar playing. Television is amazing.
