So I'm curious as to what tool kits are out there for repairing laptops and working on computers. Also small cell phone repair and basically small electronics repair. I'd like to get a repair kit that has magnetic screwdrivers and other conveniences like that. I'd be willing to spend a good deal of money on a really nice kit if you guys can help me find one or tell me what you bought :) my step father has a lot that is literally a brief case type thing but he can't remember where he got it (he's an electrical engineer). To give you an idea of the things I'd be using it for would be replacing a hard drive in a laptop that needs to have a bunch of screws taken out, replacing RAM and stuff like that.
Personally, I've bought a kit from here and it's serving me pretty well
This is the exact tool kit I have: https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Tools/Pro-Tech-Toolkit/IF145-072-1
I use one of these with custom bits for small torx and Philips head screws.

I have a proper toolkit as well but this one is always in my bag so tends to get used the most. Having said that, the kit above here is probably more suited for the work you are wanting to do and cheaper to boot.

I wanted to ask about that set, do they rust? Cause I have like 3 sets that have the same things in em (bits, drivers etc), yet they all rusted so fast, even the magnet that holds the drivers rejects them

Mine haven't yet, though I've not had my kit for long so I can't really answer that one for you
iFixit tools are overpriced in general, though they work.
Personally, I've always used the $7-15 generic eBay screwdriver sets (along with a few other spudgers and suction cups) and the actual screwdrivers always outlast the cases they come in.
If you're really concerned about rust, just Corrosion-X your tools, but I've been using these generic sets for years and haven't had a single rusty bit.
Now phones do sometimes require some weird tools like iOpeners, UV lamps, heat guns and pry tools - but even the hardest laptops will come apart easy with a basic precision screwdriver set and maybe a single spudger (exception: glued-in batteries and display panels).
Also, a magnetic mat is nice for projects too.
I've got that iFixit set, works wonderfully. I do agree with fishy though, they're overpriced. I got mine as a gift, but if I were buying I'd choose a cheaper option.

This is what I need. Now to try to stick a lil magnet in my old bit set and salvage them
