British Sky Broadcasting is buying the UK broadband and fixed line businesses of Spain's Telefonica.
It will give Sky half a million customers who use the O2 and BE brands for their home phone or broadband.

Oh god damn it.
Boy I bet my rates are going to go up since Tesco piggybacks off O2's delivery network.
Fucking great.
Also I use sky broadband so I expect that to jiggle a bunch too since they're crap when it comes to throttling users on 'unlimited'.
I like how none of the broadband users had any say at all in this, since they're the ones who will get fucked about by this.
Sky News is shit!
Where is that video?

Sky Broadband (at least in my area) is the best though. Unlimited fibre optic for cheaper than normal broadband from another supplier how can you say no. Also had very little downtime over the two years we've been with them
Will this affect 48?
If it works for you, that is great. And yeah, it's not awful for everyone. But, i've heard a lot of complaints.
If you want an ISP which everyone agrees is good then you're best bet is to set up your own one. They all have shit bits, just Sky in general seems to be the least shit.
I'm with Virgin Media, on the edge of my city and my internet is p. good.
Yeah but now you're using your own evidence, I can do the same thing as you by saying that my friend went with Virgin and their little Tivo box or whatever its called and it just wouldn't work (I have no idea what it is, it uses the internet too). It took them a month and a half before they came and fixed it. Again all companies have shit bits.
At least it wasn't TalkTalk
So glad I elected to switch to another provider since our contract ended a few days ago. BE were good, and I can't fault their support team, but fibre's been rolled out to my town now and they've not been showing many signs of progress over the last year or so. This is the final nail in an already buried coffin for me.

Sky TV is overpriced to hell but Broadband & Phone package is very good, we're getting better speeds than we did on BT in my area. My DL speed on Steam for example is triple the quickest speed I was getting on BT. Plus it's cheaper than BT and we have had a lot less hassle with them in general
I wonder how much this will affect O2.
oh i thought they bought this:

I'm sorry I thought BE said they were going to stay independent forever
what the fuck are you doing telefonica
We are on Be, we were considering switching but now with this news Virgin Media here we come!

Or BT Fibre, one of the two.
Sky fibre is awesome but they are expensive on the tv side. I doubt much will change straight away for 02 and BE customers but eventually renewal pricing and customer service may put them off.
if giffgaff costs go up again i'm literally going to commit sudoku

If they go to Three prices I might as well switch to Three.

woah why are you telling me to stab myself
For fuck sake, just when you thought O2 was a decent provider they go and get bought up into the fucking cunt empire of Murdoch.

bt fibre caps the download rate on p2p from what i have heard, i have been a be customer since 07 and was holding out for a fibre service from be but hearing this i already have a MAC from be and a order with sky for fibre, if be customers are going to be moved over anyway eventually why wait?
woah why are you telling me to stab myself
woah i only said it because it sounded like sudoku. :)
is anything going to happen to my BE adsl line?
it's kind of great at the moment for playing games without tons of jitter :-(
here is a copy of the be webpage about the buyout, the actual page isnt accessible atm

My Be line has gone downhill a lot recently. Used to get 12meg every day, now it varies between 0.5 on a bad day to 10 on a very good day.

I'm guessing the people rating the post have no clue what the o2 is:

I can then say that I've only had good service from Virgin, my girlfriend managed to drop the sofa on our router and we phoned up to ask about a new one and they replaced it for free and we had it within a couple of days
o2 is the worst network imo, their data plans suck balls and their 3G coverage is laughable.
Its time to cancel my O2 contract.
