It sounds like the only cheap place is over the internet, and if that's the case, I want to order immediately. If not, is there anywhere that I can purchase free weights in store? Wal-Mart and Target seem to only sell weights that people doing aerobic exercises would use. The set that I have, I purchased at Wal-Mart, but I can only put a maximum of 30 pounds on one weight, and I can only do that for one weight at a time.
Not in store, but check Craigslist and get them used for pennies on the dollar. Your muscles don't care if your weights are shiny and new or old and rusty.
if you go to any golds gym, or semi serious powerlifting gym and either A) Ask them to buy weights, or B) ask the management where you can get wholesale used weights, they will help you out. My dad is friends with 2 guys who are partnered in owning ~15 golds gyms around my state and they said golds does this all the time for people, sometimes even selling them equipment right out of the gym since they're always looking to get new stuff.
My local warmart sells golds gym olympic plates for fairly cheap; you sure there aren't any around you that have them in stock?
I find them cheap or even free on Craigslist
