I plan on making a new partition for my pc. I'll install Windows XP on it and then I shall use C: as a data warehouse. Is that possible? If so,how? This new partition, would it have to be logical or primary?
uhm, I'm not sure if I am following you. Can you elaborate a bit more on your question?
I have C: . I got a new motherboard,I gotta format. Backing 30 gbs on DVDs is not an option. Making a new partition, however,is. I plan on making the new partition ( let's call it W: ),then install WINXP on it,then remove winxp from C:. Should I make W: primary or logical?
Primary. You won't be able to boot off a logical without a lot of hassle.
So,what's the difference between logical and primary? Primary is for OS while Logical is for...
Put simply, you can have 4 primary partitions on a physical disk, to create more than that you use a logical partition, which sits inside a primary one.
Okay. So,if I want a place to put my shit,so that I can format C:,I must pick logical. Right?
