So today I was listening to music, when I paused it to go get a drink. When I came back all audio on my headset was distorted. I tried unplugging my headset and using my earbuds in the headphone jack instead but the same thing still happened. Tried updating USB drivers- same thing, tried updating audio drivers- same thing.
Here's a clip of what music sounds like when played through my headphones, recorded on my tablet: https://goo.gl/photos/S52MdpSJgMK4hDkf6
Audio also is mono for some reason.
I've been googling for like 2 hours now and if anyone has any ideas how to help it would be very appreciated.

Plugged my earbuds into the back of my PC and it works fine, however it's pretty inconvenient as the wire has to stretch past my face
That's a classic case of the pins not contacting in the correct spot. My phone earbuds sound like that if I have the standard selector in the wrong position, because it flips some of the ring contacts for different phones, so mic, ground and etc are in the wrong spot. Are you sure its pushed in all the way?
Caravan Palace nice..
I have the same issue with some 3.5mm jacks such as the one on my headphone stand. There is an issue with the jack itself. A contact may have become displaced inside the jack or as the previous poster suggested, it's not pushed in all the way. Interestingly my headphone jack does this when I push it in too far.

Yup, checked and it's definatly pushed in far enough.
