Yep, i have dyslexia too and it's such a pain in the ass.
yeah this makes me really abpreciate my reading comprehension
dullshit
I couldn't read three+ syllable words until I was around ten, and I can not do any sort of long-hand division or anything more complex whatsoever by hand because of dyscalculia.
I knew this stuff already because one of my counsins got Dyslexia and ADHD, but it's good to see it explained clearly for the ones who didn't.
lysdexia is awful
lysdexia is awful
how original and witty
I have dyslexia, or had, i over-came it, at least i made some serious headway. I dont really like to think I have it anymore, because I can read faster, and write better than your average person. I still catch myself spelling things out phonetically, and i have to use spell-check constantly. (I misspelled "constantly" when i typed that). Really the best way to overcome dyslexia is to just keep trying, be critical of what you write, (I wanted to use right, instead of "write" there, but i caught myself), and to just keep going at it. I have a few friends who are dyslexia that I knew back from elementary school who never got over the curb and never learned to read/write. They never tried after elementary school, and just gave up in trying, since the school would provide someone during standardized tests and other things who would read out the questions and answers for them. These people are lazy. There is having a learning disorder, than there's having a learning disorder and being lazy. These guys could read, but just very slowly back when I would get tripped up over the word "the", so there's no excuse. Accepting all the help they give you, won't ever help you in the long run, you can't be expected to learn to read and write well and effectively without actually trying. Around 8th grade, i requested to stop having help from teachers, and to stop talking to the education counselors because i felt like they did a poor job and I was better off finding my own way. few years later, I had a 3.5 GPA, was in all AP courses, and school had stopped being a challenge and was a joke overall. But over-all, im really glad I had that, I ended up repeating 2nd grade voluntarily, but i learned from a very young age how to over come, and to develop a mentality of constantly challenging myself to reach a goal. If you're not hurting, you're not moving.
I wish Dyspraxia got as much attention as Dyslexia. I was only diagnosed with it before my final high school exams, because barely anyone had heard of it, so I got no support throughout all of school and did terribly in exams.

It felt like I had to constantly fight the administration in order to get access to a computer to type on, even after I went through testing and got the necessary paperwork.
how original and witty
but when the dude who actually has dyslexia does it, its too original and super funny no offence matt
I have had dyslexia all my life and it went unnoticed for many school years. I have been in a special needs school for the past 7 years as when I started at the school I could not really spell or read many words at all. I have just left the sixth form at that school and will be starting college in September. I will be 19 in October and will be really happy to finally be back in what we call main stream education. Facepunch made me want to learn to spell as when I joined in 2009 I still was not all that great at spelling. We still had the bad spelling rating then and I got it for every single post I made until it was removed. And encase anybody wants to know I don't have much trouble reading these days but without spell check I don't feel anywhere near as confident writing. Also I find it extremely hard to this day to read hand writing. --- Edit: I have already re read that post about 3 times trying to find sentences that don't make sense. I often edit my posts minutes after I post them as I am not happy with what I put.
It's a cool compelling video and all, but it kind of makes me angry when people erroneously cite Einstein and Da Vinci as famous dyslexics.

I had to go through school (at least elementary/early middle school) before we had machines that were conventional for writing or documenting stuff, so either a teacher had to help me write or I had to carefully draw each and every letter.
how original and witty
I put the sex in dylsexia also fun fact, Comic Sans is an easy font for dyslexics to read
I knew a guy with dyslexia once, he was a dick. Fuck you Sam
It sucks, seriously. Many times I want to write something long but I can't. It just becomes a mess when I write, and correcting would have taken forever. ... ... and that's why I failed badly at languages in school.
Pyzzalexia is the way to go! yeah I'll leave now....
also fun fact, Comic Sans is an easy font for dyslexics to read
suddenly I feel even worse for dyslexics
I put the sex in dylsexia also fun fact, Comic Sans is an easy font for dyslexics to read
That's true, but I'm tired of people using that as an excuse for lazily using Comic Sans. There's a ton of other fonts that are even better.
Eys, Lysdexai si rvey dfifcuilt to ceop thiw. If yuo evah desxialy, ouy have mi depeets ympatshies. Actually, my father used to have VERY severe dyslexia and still struggles with some spelling. I really admire anyone who can overcome it.
I have Dyspraxia which is different, It means i can read and spell perfectly but I cant to many things using Motor skills, My writing is so bad even i cant read it, that made school and education a pain in the arse..
Yuo lucky fukcer
You're going to hell. I'm going to hell.

I feel like a retard talking about it too, because saying that I have a math disability sounds like a terrible excuse.

Its a curb you just have to get over. i also had major issues with math and my hand writing. calculators become a big thing in high school and onwards, so I stopped struggling with that, and i hardly write now, everyone types. and When i do write, its alright, but still bad.
That's true, but I'm tired of people using that as an excuse for lazily using Comic Sans. There's a ton of other fonts that are even better.
most people who use Comic Sans probably don't know the intricacies of its readability enough to consider dyslexia a lazy excuse to use it, people are just genuinely shit at picking appropriate fonts. There's plenty of other fonts out there that are just as readable and far more appropriate than CS in most situations
I'd love to see videos like this for various other poorly-understood neurological disorders, like ADHD or Schizophrenia or OCD. Every fucking day I hear "I'm so ADD haha BUTTERFLY lol" and "Yeah if my desk is dirty I have to clean it up i'm so OCD lol" and it bothers the fuck out of me.
