http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-29485205
A US judge has ordered the government to release videotapes depicting a Guantanamo Bay prisoner on hunger strike being force-fed. US District Court Judge Gladys Kessler granted US media outlets' request for the tapes' release. The videos are said to show prisoner Abu Wa'el Dhiab being forcibly removed from his cell and fed.
I don't get mad at the government like most people do, and generally defend them, but really there's no defending gitmo. It's a fucked up place.
The tapes will be redacted to conceal information and identities, according to the court order, and will not be unsealed until this is done.

Fucked up place shouldn't exist. But there's probably worse holding places that we don't even know about.
Black site, nice. A slice of American pie on Communist soil.
Black site, nice. A slice of American pie on Communist soil.
You're pretty good.
Why film this? That's what I don't get. Why create evidence that it even happened.
Why film this? That's what I don't get. Why create evidence that it even happened.
My only guess is that this was a fucked up fetish of the person that thought it would be a good idea to record it.
My only guess is that this was a fucked up fetish of the person that thought it would be a good idea to record it.
that's your only guess? i think it's more the fact that it's a prison full of security cameras, but that's pretty creative.
My only guess is that this was a fucked up fetish of the person that thought it would be a good idea to record it.
yeah gitmo's just full of sexual deviants and the like.
yeah gitmo's just full of sexual deviants and the like.
Rumor has it that there is even a furry stationed there, who knew?
Why film this? That's what I don't get. Why create evidence that it even happened.
To monitor that we are properly doing these procedures. I've came into every single one of these threads and explained why force feeding is happening. We either let these people starve to death or make them eat, there's no other humanitarian option. Also don't say "WELL RELEASE THEM DURRRR" because the few inmates remaining there (the majority of inmates have left) are there because literally no one wants them in their country (not even their own countries) or they want to execute them.
You're pretty good.
Kept you waiting, huh?
It'd put my mind slightly at ease to see proof of that.
It's not something you'd find on the Internet my only proof is the fact that I work with a few people who have actually have force fed the detainees.
yeah gitmo's just full of sexual deviants and the like.
Gimpmo. :v:
My only guess is that this was a fucked up fetish of the person that thought it would be a good idea to record it.
I know whenever I force feed my prisoners I video tape it for later.
Everyone here is an armchair politician. Clearly these people in gitmo are here for a reason not just because hrrrdrr the guberment didn't like them. I assume all of you get daily CIA briefings and would be just as qualified to lead america's counter terrorism fight.
A lot of people here would probably argue that no one deserves this kind of treatment regardless of what they've done.
Okay well just let them die of starvation then since that's a better alternative.

It's incredibly traumatic and borders on torture.
rape, loud music playing 24/7, force feeding, etc.
Sounds kinky

Hospitals do this shit all the time, actually some of the detainees are such pros they'll put their own in. Here's a video of what an actual NG tube placement looks like without all of the theatrics. Even in the video that you linked you can see there's some discomfort, now imagine that happening while you're being forcefully restrained while having been on hunger strike in fucking gitmo of all places.

They've been getting e feeds for so long they don't choose to resist. Getting "e-feeds" is a badge of honor to these guys. Believe it or not the detainees will eat food, except they're on a nutritional point system. So what they'll do is eat just enough to be below the threshold so they still won't have enough points to not get an e-feed.
You're a fool if you think the detainees act like Mos Def does.
Clearly you know this firsthand.
