My sister keeps buying laptop chargers from Dell, and every time she does, they don't work

Well, she doesn't anymore. She bought 3-4 of them and they still didn't work. She also tried to change out the battery, and that didn't work either. I started feeling bad though, because she's about to start school again, and the only way to use the laptop is with the charger plugged into the wall. So the charger does work, but it doesn't charge it. Instead it just says it's not compatible with the battery, but it's the charger that's made for it's model.
Anyone have any troubleshooting ideas or anything? I'll appreciate anything.
I know, I know. Dell rips you off. Dell sucks, screw dell, Et cetera.
Punch her in the jaw and spit in her eyes.

I heard best buy supplys chargers that work for dell laptops. I suggest going there. Dell sucks ass for support. I had a dell laptop once. The charger broke. And the second one broke to.
Stop buying them if they never work? THIS LIGHTBULB DOESN'T FIT MY LAMP. Hmm I'll go by another!

Sounds like a good idea. I think that would fix it too. :D

If the original breaks, of course you'll buy another. If the second one is broken from the start, I always still buy one more. Odds that one will be broken are very very low from the start. But you never know. We could have just thrown the laptop away and one of those had just been a faulty charger.

She's still quite stupid to buy 3-4 of them. Most people would just return it after finding the first one doesn't work. Some optimistic ones would buy two maximum, thinking the first one is defective, and would stop/return both of them after finding that both are not compatible. Buying 3-4 is simply dumb.
maybe its the outlet on the laptop that isn't working?

True, do you think it would still work plugged in though?

not to sure to be honest and if the laptop can't detect the charger then the outlet on the laptop is not working.
I bought a charger for my Compaq Presario 2178CL off of Amazon. Worked without a hitch (except you could boil water on it :v:)
Sounds like a defective battery. Replace it.
He said he already tried changing out the batteries.
The only thing I can thing of is the wiring between the adapter plug on the laptop and the battery is faulty.
Oh, one thing though, check the battery contacts. There may be corrosion. Clean it off if there is.

1. You already said that.
2. He says in the OP that it can run while plugged into the wall.

oh my mistake
This has been happening to me for a long time too.
The trick is to plug the charger into the computer very fast. If it doesn't throw up the undetermined power type error it will charge. If it stops working completely, buy an older Dell charger off of eBay. Both of my 2009 chargers stopped working eventually and I took my mom's old charger from her 2005 laptop and it worked like a charm until a few months ago when it started doing that again, but it still works if you plug it in fast or a certain way.
fuck her u son of a bit ch
