Hi, well for some reason I have totally lost mt 2GB memory stick and the only one I have is a 200MB one and that's not enough, I want to install Ubuntu on my computer for a dual boot, can anyone please tell me a way on how I can install it dual boot without wubi or using a CD or a USB pen.
You could buy an official CD
Actually, you only need to buy them if you need like 50 of them. If you just need the one, they'll send it to you gratis. Will take time to ship mind you, https://shipit.ubuntu.com/
It said it could take upto 5 to 6 weeks, I can get a memory stick or a disk by then so theres no point in that, I will try the installer again after I have formatted 7.
Oracle virtualbox, best answer that way when you get bored of it you don't have to fdisk /mbr
wubi lol

What about that netinstaller, can't remember the name, but it allows you to install with noting but a hard-drive. Netubootin? Or something?

unetbootin
Just get unetbootin and put Ubuntu 10.10_NetInstall on your stick.

Dude, Wubi works FINE for me. This is just like somebody asking "Is Vista SP1 good?" and getting replies saying "No! It's bad, but I haven't tried SP1 yet because it's that bad."
Give it a whirl, it's good.

anecdotal. 99% of the problems we're asked to solve here are caused by Wubi

sometimes wubi goes great, but that's not usually the case.
Buttsex is right, if someone posts a thread with a weird error message, I'll probably ask the OP if he installed with Wubi, and at least up to this point the answer has always been yes.
Same here. I get the idea of Wubi and I like the concept. The problem is that it's unreliable. Yes some people have good experiences, but the number of bad ones make it unreliable.
Im giving unetbootin a wirl and installing it on my external harddrive.
I got a CD thanks anyway guys!
