• HP Pavilion with busted screen won't project onto monitor

I'm having a bit of a situation: I busted my HP Pavilion laptop screen a while ago and long story short, I can't see shit. A year ago I bought an LG monitor and connected it via HDMI, it worked flawlessly and I continued to use my otherwise functional laptop without any issues. Recently it just stopped projecting and the only lead I have is that it only happened a little bit after I ran a scan through AVG. Please help, I really don't want to buy another laptop since the screen seems to be the only problem it has, but if it comes down to it I may unfortunately have to. Also, I'm running Windows 10 if that helps any.
Have you tried cycling through video sources with F4?
Could be having a boot issue and you wouldn't really know. Did it show the BIOS splash and other boot screens on the monitor before it stopped working, or did it only show up on the monitor once it was booted into Windows?
Also try using a different HDMI cable and monitor unless you can rule them out as not being defective.
I know the HDMI cord and monitor are okay since I use both of them to connect my PS4. As for the monitor display, it only showed on my monitor when the login screen appeared. It could be a boot screen or something, but I've pressed every possible key and nothing happens. And yes, I have pressed f4, no response. :/
Try after it's had some time to boot up fully press Windows+P a few times.
No dice. Damn, what a shame. I'll try a different monitor, and if that fails I'm screwed. EDIT: Oh, I looked at the monitors settings: "Dual display cannot be used, installation of Dual Smart Solution will enable this menu" Could AVG have blocked this Dual Smart Solution program?
