• MSI Rant - very long

Recently, I purchased an MSI 5770 for my new build. After a month or so, I started receiving blue screen errors and noticed they had to do with my video. I assumed they were driver issues from a new line of graphics cards on a new operating system, Windows 7. After the crashes continued at a constant rate for a few days I decided to research the problem a bit further. Turned out the errors were hardware based... fantastic. I reluctantly headed to MSI's website to request an RMA. I received the email with the details I needed to print out, but noticed that the text was insanely large. I printed it anyways and, sure enough, my printer wouldn't fit it all on one sheet. I had to literally take screen shots and photoshop the information onto a 8.5x11 canvas in order to get it to fit. Off to the post office I go. I send the package off and borrow a friend's old 7900GS... boy I can't wait to play DiRT2 now! So after waiting two weeks, my order finally shows up on MSI's online RMA tracking tool. Finally progress...? After waiting another week, the website still lists my order as "Processing". I call them up and am greeted with a "Hello?" as opposed to "Hello thank you for calling MSI my name is Richard how can I assist you today" like what normal companies do. I ask them when I could expect my order to be shipped and they say Thursday or Friday (it's Wednesday at the time). Excellent! Although while speaking to the representative, there's a very loud bang every time he goes to type information into their system like he's throwing his headset across his cubicle instead of keeping it on his goddamn head. I am then dismissed very quickly instead of being asked "Is there anything else we can assist you with today?" or at least a "Thank you for calling MSI have a nice day". *sigh* So Friday rolls around and, of course, my order is still "Processing". I call them up and ask if the website is simply not updated. I speak to the same dickbag representative and he tells me my order can't be found in their system. What. He says he's going to personally go down to RMA and figure things out and call me in about an hour. No problem, right? Except he never calls and it's the weekend so I can't contact anyone. I decide to send them an email demanding compensation blah blah blah. So Monday comes about and I call again. I am now on hold for the entire duration of Beethoven's 5th Symphony. After the hold music goes quiet I hang up and call again. A different dickbag picks up and is breathing so heavily and speaking so quickly I can barely understand him. I let him know what has happened and he says he'll call me back in an hour or so with an update. I rage. I get a guarantee and ask for his name and extension. Now that they're on the spot they call me back. Apparently they can't provide me with service and are going to credit me for my purchase. The levels of rage are climbing. They tell me they've replied to the email I sent earlier, and that I should reply back with a screen shot of my Newegg invoice so they can figure out how much to reimburse me for. I do so and, noticing they avoided my previous requests for compensation, again ask for either a free upgrade or at least a discount. They reply the next day and tell me they are sending me a check in the mail and it's going to take 3-5 business days, and again completely avoid my requests for compensation. MOTHER FUCKER. The gloves are off and I send another email with a slightly less tactful, yet professional, message. I receive no response AGAIN and call them. I tell them to cancel the check and to send me a 5870. They tell me they'll send my case to upper management and contact me. TWO MORE DAYS go by and so again I call them. It appears the only way I can get service is to force them to do it. I talk to the manager or whoever and he says that he did indeed try to get me the 5870 but they WEREN'T IN STOCK. WHAT THE FUCK. He says my card is in stock now, again WTF, and they they'll be sending me a replacement on 2-day air shipping instead of UPS Ground. It's Thursday... I'm not going to get it until Monday or Tuesday. That'll be an entire MONTH without a graphics card. I ask him when the 5870's will be back in stock and he blows me off and gets out his snooty "I'm a manager so I've got power" attitude and calls me "sir" and starts using big words to sound authoritative. At this point, I'm just about done with them. I'm half-expecting to be sent a 5770 with an orb cooler, seeing as that's what they produce now. If that's the case then God help whoever I speak to when I call them again. I was promised the same model, and if they don't give it to me all Hell's breaking loose. tl;dr MSI fucked me hard. Very, very hard.
Make it 4-5 paragraphs and then it'll be readable
What is it with tech companies and horrible RMAing
That sucks, I could've sworn MSI would have had better customer service. The lack of compensation also shows their lack of customer service. See if you can take it any higher in the MSI chain. [editline]06:20PM[/editline]
Make it 4-5 paragraphs and then it'll be readable
Don't even come into a thread saying "Very long" if you're going to give a shit reply like this.
Don't even come into a thread saying "Very long" if you're going to give a shit reply like this.
long isn't the same as difficult to read.
long isn't the same as difficult to read.
Stop commenting on every fucking reply I have on this forum already. If you don't want to read it, don't, but don't leave a shit post on your way out.
boohoo people are interacting with me on an internet forum you might as well have said "it warned you it was long so you should have come here expecting a complete lack of understandable spelling and grammar"
lol he gave you a dumb
oh man I'm so angry now grr, argh and stuff quick someone give me contact details so I can angrily but politely ask him to change his opinion
This section needs a competency test in order to gain entrance, and you only have one chance per year to get in.
My msi 5770 with the seaweed cooler works great :smug:
The lack of compensation also shows their lack of customer service. See if you can take it any higher in the MSI chain.
Yeah I tried but I've got nothing on them now that they can give me what I came for in the first place.
Make it 4-5 paragraphs and then it'll be readable
Sorry I got a tad carried away in my rage.
My msi 5770 with the seaweed cooler works great :smug:
Yeah but crossfired with a normal cooler is gonna look like shit. I built my new computer with aesthetics in mind.
I built my new computer with aesthetics in mind.
made me agree with
This section needs a competency test in order to gain entrance, and you only have one chance per year to get in.

made me agree with
I'm not quite sure I understand. What do you mean?
This is why I tend to steer clear of brands like MSI. They have horrible customer service as opposed to XFX, Sapphire, EVGA, and a couple others. Anyways, hope things clear up for you.
I'm not quite sure I understand. What do you mean?
Only reinforces
This section needs a competency test in order to gain entrance, and you only have one chance per year to get in.
So I'm incompetent? Last time I checked, reapninja, you were totally supportive of "Project Black/Blue". Why am I incompetent for taking the time to carefully select parts that both perform well together and look nice?
Random question while we are are on service... Where does Asus rate on this? On topic: It's kind of silly if you ask me to ask for an 5870... But they did bone you pretty bad... Honestly I would threaten to BBB their asses...
there's a big difference between a themed build and a "ooh this looks purty I'll choose this one" build
Did you even read my post? I took the time to carefully select parts that fit my budget, performed the best for the price, but also looked nice. I don't know of any other way to explain it except careful, well-researched selection... and for that I'm being insulted? What a strange situation.

This is why I intend to only go with XFX when the time comes to purchase my 5-series card. Double-lifetime warranty...USA based customer service. Hope you do get the 5870 you want.
youre shit ddd insulted? oohh want a reason? you're not getting one
What? Are you drunk?
ho ho you know exactly what i am saying
No, I really don't. The only thing I took from that post what you calling me shit over the internet. Also, lol @ the rating system.
What is it with tech companies and horrible RMAing
I've had extremely positive experiences with Logitech (:siren:TOP DOG GAVE ME A G9X FOR A WEAR-N-TEAR BROKEN G9:siren:) and ASUS (broken mobo RMA - got the mobo for free from my cousin, no original box, no receipt, still took it back).
