I found this very fascinating http://www.wimp.com/freeenergy/
Remarkable
its amazing how much technology has advanced in just 100 years [editline]17th November 2011[/editline] I just hope it doesn't fade into oblivion
Amazing, distributed generation is a brilliant idea.
God damn I love science.
This better happen because if it doesn't I'm going become a hacker and distribute this video to every bodies computers and say "We could have this!"
Sadly big business will probably try to fizzle it out somehow to keep making their bags of money. Just look at electric cars and how everyone had to return them. Hopefully one day this will be possible but it probably won't be for quite a while.
You've done me proud, science.
I thought everything was nice until the "GRID OF TOMORROW IS NO GRID" part. Transmitting energy wirelessly over large distances has failed for a while mostly because of all of the outside factors surrounding it-It's easy to do in a lab, but one case of bad weather and it doesn't work anymore. It's not that it's impossible, it just needs to be worked on to get it right.
Amazing but not going to happen in capitalism. No invention that if implemented would make giant corporation loose billions is going to pass.
or they could build these however this seems really cool
I like how towards the end he makes a dramatic speech.
This is amazing! The government needs to fund this!
Amazing but not going to happen in capitalism. No invention that if implemented would make giant corporation loose billions is going to pass.
Loosing money, yes. Loosing billions, no. They can just convert over to being sellers and producers of the materials, regulate it. There will need to be places which would produce this stuff by mass, selling that off to the consumer makes money, sure it wont make as much as burning fuels and selling the energy but there is still billions to be made in the production and upkeep, hell they can make a fortune of just selling batteries alone if this was to become real. But it wont because as long as there is oil, coal and other fossilised fuels on this planet, the big oil companies will force everything new out of the window. A good example is back in the 80's, a group of 10 scientists at Ford developed a completely modular, disposable water fuelled engine made out of torlon thermoplastic which was produced using plant oils (rapeseed/sunflower etc, renewable oil basically) which could power a family car without any issues, the engines were stress tested over a period of two years and even after then they were still going strong (note this was factory testing, they never were actually put into a car unfortunately but the amount of stress they were put through was equiv to 6-7 years running life in a car). The concept was brought up at a large meeting with Ford's executives who then presented it to some companies, guess what happened next.
This is amazing! The government needs to fund this!
Sadly the science budget is getting smaller and smaller in a time when we need it most.
What? Why would the same corporations have control over this? "oh hey guys, you're the industrial giants that hold the entire world by the wallet? well here, have our technology to get power almost free". Why? And even if they bought the technology they are getting more money now on expensive energy, why introduce cheaper energy and loose gain? Also the modernization cost would be astronomical. Why go through all that if you're doing great? The introduction would have to be made by an outside company. But it would be squealed down by the giants if it would actually try.
Would be good if the people who invented got investors to develop and spread this new technology, this world is fucking annoying in the way that if something new and much better comes along, money ruins it.

There are other methods which have been found and I will admit the OP's is very drastic, but what I was saying before was a if case, if it happened they could do that, but they wont and this tech most likely will never take off.
The energy companies would have to provide and maintain these new technologies.
You have got to be kidding, once you pay for it you owe them nothing. Like hell are they going to do that. Once everyone switches they have no further income.

A shame he was kicked to the curb by Edison. Edison invented the light-bulb, Tesla made it more efficient.
