• YouTube Overrides Konami: Konami Shuts Down a Video About Kojima/Konami, and YouTube Reinstates The
George “Super Bunnyhop” Weidman published “Kojima vs. Konami: An Investigation” more than two weeks ago, in which he alleged an insider at the company had passed on information about the deteriorating relationship between Metal Gear designer Hideo Kojima and Konami. It was briefly removed from YouTube, thanks to a takedown notice from Konami. But as I noted above, it’s back online. Thanks to the takedown, however, it’s even more popular. ... YouTube decided the video wasn’t in violation, reminded Konami about the definition of “fair use,” and asked for more information, if the company was still claiming possible infringement. When YouTube sent a note to Konami, it also informed Weidman of the decision. So far, the video is still online, has nearly 300,000 views, and Weidman is encouraged. “This may be the first time YouTube has quickly stepped in and reviewed a bogus copyright claim for a gaming video,” he said to me over email. “If that’s the case, then my situation my be breaking new ground, and this could be good news for YouTubers everywhere.”
Kotaku The video in question: And a follow up video: Also it's interesting for YouTube to finally be taking a stance on fair use: [t]http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/1252007958910779239.png[/t]
An attempt to silence Super Bunnyhop only made his video even more popular. GG Konami.
An attempt to silence Super Bunnyhop only made his video even more popular. GG Konami.
Isn't that the case in almost all of the DMCA's?
Seriously, why don't companies have at least one person who knows of the Streisand effect?
SO basically his info was spot on.....since Konami pretty much confirmed it by trying a DMCA, cunts!
SO basically his info was spot on.....since Konami pretty much confirmed it by trying a DMCA, cunts!
I didn't doubt the story one bit, but this just confirms it. Oh well. They can go on their little mobile market trip. As if anyone are going to remember them for that. Kojima deserves a better partner anyway.
Considering Metal Gear Solid is my most beloved game franchise, and i mean it i literally idolize and praise it all the time how much i love the story the characters and the series, to see this happening literally kills me inside. And the fact Kojima is an absolutely amazing developer and person to his fans/community..yeah it mega fucking sucks.
I wouldn't have heard about the video if it wasn't for this, so nice job Konami.
This is great for Weidman. He did his job as an investigative journalist, and he gets rewarded for it through good publicity. I'm really proud of how far he's gone over a span of 2(?) Years
I always thought konami was a good dev, I haven't heard bad about them before recently now all of sudden they're inside a burning building when it comes to how much they're messing up PR wise, and they started the fire it's different with capcom, or WB, or Ubisoft, where they slowly turned bad and it's expected this is very painful to see a good game studio going to shit this fast
I always thought konami was a good dev, I haven't heard bad about them before recently now all of sudden they're inside a burning building when it comes to how much they're fucking up PR wise, and they started the fire
Konami was a good dev but their suits were always rather shady. But now it all came out.
I REALLY hope Kojima gets picked up by another high profile company, it would break my heart to see him have to start asking for money on kickstarter to make games with a mediocre dev team and no publisher.

Then he can have a desk name plate called Big Boss.

I mean, what did he do in Konami? I don't know the company well at all, but he seems very important considering everyone is freaking out
even youtube doesn't like konami

But the alleged 'feud' between the CEO of Konami, or previous one maybe, and Kojima resulted in him being stripped of his position and only staying on as a contractor, his personal team being pulled apart and turned into a standard development group who will probably be saddled with mobile phone games (and allegedly are under horrible passive-aggressive conditions to try and make them quit), and Silent Hills was completely canned and torn apart.
Konami is just a publisher. Not to mention the real dough they get comes from slot machine and stuff, like the pachinko machines.
Why couldn't Konami just wait until after SH and TPP were out
Why couldn't Konami just wait until after SH and TPP were out
Major and significant restructuring in the company is happening right now, and they probably figured it's better to cut all loose ends and 'tangles' than bother funneling a few more million into Silent Hills at least.
Kojima should start his own Company and call it Outer Heaven, or Motherbase. Then he can have a desk name plate called Big Boss.
a company for devs to be devs, developing for no other company?

Eat shit Konami.

I mean holy shit I've not played MGS2 in so long but now I've read that I'm finding it extremely hard to disagree with it
Cue Kojima going to kickstarter in a few years to make a espionage game.
that picture does a brilliant job of explaining it. I mean holy shit I've not played MGS2 in so long but now I've read that I'm finding it extremely hard to disagree with it
I'm disagreeing with it pretty hard right now. I haven't found a reliable source that says Washington was offered to be made king. Newsweek is behind a paywall. It doesn't really seem plausible since I had imagined most of the revolutionaries supported democracy. Then there's the claim that no man in history besides George Washington had refused absolute power. If that's the case why is 'abdication' or a word? Where would constitutional monarchies come from? Is the Magna Carta a forgery? Is Juan Carlos a fraud? [editline]It's a joke I'm only pretending to be retarded. Fuck Kojima.[/editline] And I wasn't fooled by the Patriots, I was confused by the terrible controls. The game cheats, it never tells me where to go or how to do stuff. The boss fights were really terrible, you die instantly like 20 times before you look at a guide or the chat. How could I hate Solidus more than this game?

As for the boss fights, they're boss fights, I don't know what you were expecting. And if you really are dying instantly so much, you should probably look at the way you're playing. And yeah, the controls can be a little iffy sometimes, but you're over exaggerating it.
