• Modoc becomes second California county to back secession drive
SAN FRANCISCO – Modoc County, in remote northeastern California, has voted to join neighboring Siskiyou County in its bid to withdraw from the state and team with southern Oregon counterparts to go it alone.Tuesday’s 4-0 vote by the Modoc County Board of Supervisors – with one supervisor absent – to explore the pursuit of a state of Jefferson came just weeks after Siskiyou County supervisors voted 4-1 on a resolution to back secession. Modoc’s board chairman, Geri Byrne, told the Redding Record-Searchlight that she placed the measure on the agenda “because I heard from a number of people in my district that wanted to do such.… We’re not saying we’re seceding today, we’re saying let’s look into it.” “This is going to have to be something the people bring forward,” Byrne said. “It’s going to have to be from the bottom up, not from the top down.” Mark Baird, a spokesperson for the Jefferson Declaration Committee, told the Redding paper that the group will ideally secure commitments from a dozen counties before asking California legislators to allow the formation of the new state. (Congress must also approve.) “We lack the representation to address the problems that affect the north state,” Baird told the Record-Searchlight.
http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-modoc-county-secession-20130925,0,1326947.story]LA Times
God, no. Oregon does not want you. Fuck off.
God, no. Oregon does not want you. Fuck off.
I think the article is saying they'd like to secede with southern parts of Oregon to form their own state.

Semi-neighboring Humboldt County here. The fact that California is such a huge and diverse state is ESPECIALLY annoying to us. California should really be two states, but then again, I'm scared to see what a state entirely dominated by weed, lumber and shitty internet would be like.
Fun Fact: pretty much all of the counties in the state of Jefferson take in more from taxes than they give. Have fun with your bankrupt state!
I think I'd prefer to stay a part of Oregon.

It's almost a perfect match for the insignia from The Great Dictator, just with a different colour scheme.
If any part of the Union did secede, wouldn't the National Guard come in and annex them again?
If any part of the Union did secede, wouldn't the National Guard come in and annex them again?
You have no idea what this is about.
If any part of the Union did secede, wouldn't the National Guard come in and annex them again?
they want to secede and form their own state not secede from the nation and form their own country
If any part of the Union did secede, wouldn't the National Guard come in and annex them again?
Counties can secede from their home-state to either become part of another state or form their own state, if they garner enough support. [editline]29th September 2013[/editline] Also the National Guard is for state-by-state defense.

I back this 100%, nobody in Oregon likes Roseburg, Grants Ass, Methford and Kalameth Falls. Please create the flyover state of the west coast.
what's wrong with being diverse?
It completely kills part of the purpose of having states. When you have large countries with diverse populations having laws that apply across the board usually isn't a great idea because laws that would work in some areas might not work in others. So you have states that can create laws that work for them.
what's wrong with being diverse?
I think what he's getting at is how the more densely populated southern parts of the state tend to dominate the vote, while the Northern areas don't align with their views and get overshadowed.
I say give Cali to Mexico
North California is BEST California!
what's wrong with being diverse?
because it makes it more difficult for different groups to be adequately represented sometimes.
