A Ukip councillor who said it was “time to kill” voters who opted to remain in last month’s EU referendum on Facebook says his comments were meant to be “taken with a pinch of salt”.
...
They read: “Time to start killing these people till article 50 is invoked, perhaps remainers will get the message then.”
Replying to someone who took exception to the post, further comments were made, reading: “Not threatening anyone, no need for threats just a bullet.”
Considering Joe Cox was recently shot by a right wing nut job for her political views, this is poor taste indeed.
Sounds like the UKIP needs a new councillor and the current one should start looking for a new job.
Spouting shit this stupid should be punished way more harshly, because this kind of behaviour is unacceptable from anybody
Remember the guy a year or 2 ago when a UKIP counciller blamed the nationwide floods on gays
UKIP councillers are the cream of the crop
As if UKIP cares what's poor taste or not, they'll lie and cheat and shout anyone down who dare opposes them, but are spineless and would do nothing power, as Farage shows.
I bet they're secretly supporting that one guy who's being a completely inconsiderate asshole and challenging Jo Cox's seat - despite none of the other parties doing so, out of a sign of respect. Something that clearly doesn't exist in UKIP.
God/the Flying Spaghetti Monster help the Brits, they're gonna fucking need it.
UKIP Councillors are all fucking weirdos so it's no surprise that one of them might bother saying shit like this.
Taking stuff seriously on facebook should be punished way more harshly, I'd even argue it's not even newsworthy to post threads on facebook comments anymore. Maybe if there's a new feature that's controversial but this is just someone's bad attempt at humour killing their career which shouldn't even be the case anyway. Freedom of speech is dead.

Free speech isn't consequence free speech.
If you chat shit like he does then your employer is entitled to let you go and the public are entitled to call you out for it.
If its good enough for the BBC then its good enough for me.
It's not like the pc brigade are barging down his door and trampling mud his carpets with jack boots.
Yeah you're right if I start shouting "FIRE" at work, that's probably going to get some people rushing for the fire alarm. The difference here though is this person could shout "FIRE" except the same consequences of that are that nobody is going to be worried at all because it's the internet and unless they direct it towards emergency services or give a better context it's at most fear mongering.
In this case, he made a tasteless joke which somehow warrants a news article and being told that free speech means you also have to live with the conseqeunces of the free speech (which we already know) the thing is, for it to be free speech you have to hear an argument from the side which you don't like the most and my argument is that because this was a poor joke, the employers should take that stick out of their butts and get over the tasteless joke as well as perhaps ignoring the joke altogether because it's not to be taken seriously, going to also ignore this thread now.

Free speech never meant you can say anything without consequence. Quite the contrary.
You got to remember that some remainer MP recently got murdered because someone took the rhetoric too literally.

An elected official saying something monumentally stupid should always be newsworthy. If you're voting for someone you have the right to know what they've said in the past

Very poor taste, given Jo Cox's murder.
But then again I'm fairly sure you have to prove you're a complete fucking idiot before you become a UKIP councillor so can't say I'm surprised.
