[QUOTE]A couple enjoying an early morning "cuddle" on the shore of lake Nahuel Huapi, were rescued with mild symptoms of hypothermia after the gearshift of their car failed and the vehicle rushed into the water.
The unusual incident occurred when a couple who enjoyed a morning of passion on the beach Centenario, had to be rescued when their vehicle, a Ford Eco Sport, suddenly entered Lake Nahuel Huapi.
According to local police, the couple was rushed to a local hospital with early symptoms of hypothermia after they accidentally shifted the car to neutral, causing it to rush into the lake.

Emergency brake + reverse gear v:rolleyes:v
If only they had a Toyota everything would have been fine
[QUOTE=BandClassHAH;47553187]Emergency brake + reverse gear v:rolleyes:v[/QUOTE]
Reverse gear isn't an option if it's automatic, if it's manual you'll want first if the nose is pointed downhill so as to not risk valvetrain damage.
Did it make her moist?
- Wow baby you are so wet I can feel it with my ankles.
- Shit John the car is drowning!
- Oh yeeeah baby it is... Wait...

I drive a automatic VW Jetta, and it has a reverse gear. Unless I've misunderstood what you mean.
shoullda gone for a hot hatchback instead, at least there's room in the back

Put it in reverse and try to push it. Itt'l roll as readily as if it was in neutral. Automatics do not have positive drive engagement unless the engine is running, so putting them in reverse does fuck all.

But there's "Parked" for automatic?
thank god they got out alive
[QUOTE=Gordonator;47554281]thank god they got out alive[/QUOTE]
Yeah thank goodness they pulled out in time
:v:
"It's bigger than that I swear! The water is cold!"
[QUOTE=TestECull;47553226]Reverse gear isn't an option if it's automatic, if it's manual you'll want first if the nose is pointed downhill so as to not risk valvetrain damage.[/QUOTE]
that sounds like bs to me, the car wont move if it its first anyway
automatics arent like manuals
there's no physical connection its liquid aka use your handbrake dont be an idiot

If it's an auto then they should have had the gearstick in park which would have locked the gearbox up.
I'm so confused as to how this is even an argument when it's not even based on an opinion. I don't know how cars work, so I'm not the one to figure it out, but surely a link to a wikipedia article, followed by a relevant passage in quote tags will solve this dilemma.

Are you saying you cant reverse in an auto?

That would explain why my car rolls backward in Drive, then.
From my understanding, P locks the reverse gear and the first gear together. But theres always the hand-brake.
[QUOTE=BandClassHAH;47553187]Emergency brake + reverse gear v:rolleyes:v[/QUOTE]
But it's a parking brake, you don't really use it in emergencies (unless the nowadays redundant brake system fails) so please don't call it that.
Just my pet peeve. I don't want people behind me pulling the parking brake in an emergency because of misinformation when I'm slamming down the brake pedal trying not to hit anything.

Yeah handbrakes have little stopping force when the car is in motion.
Gearshift failure my ass. Somebody kicked it.
[QUOTE=abcpea;47554441]that sounds like bs to me, the car wont move if it its first anyway[/QUOTE]
It will. It all depends on how steep the hill is, weight of the car, gearing, etc.
[QUOTE=Bubz;47556849]Yeah handbrakes have little stopping force when the car is in motion.[/QUOTE]
They're designed to stop your car rolling down a hill, nothing more really. Heck I can move my car with the handbrake on just using the torque from idle by lifting the clutch without touching the accelerator.

Probably this.
[quote=Article] an early morning "cuddle"[/b]
There's actually quotation marks around it.
Bet they slammed it in park, left the engine running, and got hot and steamy.
*PLONK* kicks the shift in drive, and off they went.
They might wanna turn off the engine next time.
