Pretty shocking tbh, probably didn't even reach 5k sales in it's 1st week. Insomniac are great developers, I knew this was gonna bomb, but not this bad:
Whilst many didn't expect it to set the charts alight, it can't be of any comfort to Insomniac Games to know that Fuse entered the UK videogame charts at number 37. Our own Jim Sterling said in his review the game was "lazy" and "victim of the heavily focus-tested, leader following videogame industry." To give you some idea about how bad this placing it, Fuse was outsold by GTA IV (19), The Walking Dead (23), Pokemon Mystery Dunegon: Infinity (27), Red Dead Redemption (29) and Just Dance 4 (35). At least Codemasters has something to celebrate -- its racing title GRID 2 debuted at number one. Yeah, well, look at it's early trailer... and then what it became... Which would you have rather played?

Honestly, I liked the fuse trailer more. Im just not a fan of cartoony shooters.
"it needs GUNS and BLOOD and GORE and GRITTY GENERIC COVER-BASED SHOOTER MECHANICS LIKE IN MY GEARS OF WAR"

Seriously people, they barely released anything before this "change" that everyone's whining about, for all we know they didn't even change anything from their original ideas at all. This sensationalist false panic is probably more to blame for the poor sales than the actual design choices are.

Phft! After that I wonder how Insomniac sleeps at night...
Is he calling GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption bad?
No. He's saying they're still selling better than this new game.
this is what happens when you let kids at the age of 11 decide whats to be or not to be in a game
Overstrike looks like it had "soul". It was a sarcastic and colorful game with a cartoony artstyle that allowed for some flexibility in what could be implemented. I think its already been stated that Fuse looks like every other space shooter. Being realistic isn't a bad thing, but the problem with looking realistic is that realistic has the same look in every single game. Also, the Fuse trailer had no character dialogue, so the GANGSTASHOOTDEMNIGGAS music just looked overdone. The characters probably went from distinct personalities to gritty, stereotypical space marines.
the fact that it was forced down the chute of 'generic fps' really didn't aid its cause, alongside its nonexistent advertising campaign didn't hear anything about it past a fp thread complaining about how it was ruined by ea a while back
Could tell this game was gonna bomb the moment it was revealed. There's no room in the world for yet another grimdark shooter.
I don't even think it was the direction the game took that turned it into such a blunder,The people who are going to buy it probably aren't going to know about the change,it's the fact they only released action dupstep trailers that killed it,who the hell markets a new IP that way? Did that think it was going to sell on the insomniac name alone?

That is what these 'SUPER DARK, GRITTY AND REALISTIC!!' shooters are all about, not to be taken seriously. I think it just failed with advertisement. I wasn't aware of it until today.

Overstrike had a charming personality and character focus, Fuse was just more dirty gritty bullshit with some emphasis on the pseudo-science gadgets that, to be honest, aren't all that interesting. A shield, wow. Crossbow, hold the friggin phone. Invisibility? Never seen that before! (badumtsscrickets) There's a million games all coming from that direction, who the hell thinks it's safe to compete in that kinda arena? I wonder how much money and time it cost to turn around the game's direction.
So they didn't learn their lesson with Medal Of Honor: Warfighter.
never heard of it, no wonder it sold badly
Hoodoo confirmed for Insomniac dev.
Hoodoo confirmed for Insomniac dev.
More like EA damage control, the first video is way closer to what insomniac would do imo.
I wasn't particularly interested in Overstrike when it was first shown, particularly because I didn't really feel like they had any sort of new gameplay going on, it looked like an average co-op shooter, so personally, I don't feel like it would have been a good game without the changes anyway. Problem is, the change of setting, pace, theme and art style seemed to remove the only thing the game did show, which was charm, thus making it hopeless. Now FUSE is just a futuristic co-op shooter in a sea of similar games that have more stuff to catch the consumer's attention like Dead Island, Borderlands or Dead Space, regardless of how good those games are.

Can't we just have a game with some light humor and not everything is death #crawling #so_real
The demo wasn't that bad, certainly better than the generic shooter we usually see.

It's free, but good luck finding a good link these days.
I don't really understand why Insomniac do these things recently. With Ratchet and Clank a Crack in Time they made pretty much the finest 3D platformer of all time, and I know Sony own the IP and they were probably told to make All for One and FFA but they both sucked. Even Resistence 3 was a solid console exclusive shooter. I understand that they wanted to go Multiplatform, but I can only see them going downhill from now on with a third party publisher like EA.
