The game is slated to come out on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later in the year, with PS3 and Xbox 360 versions following shortly thereafter. As the name indicates, Pro Skater 5 is a call back to the old-school lineage of the first four titles – back when the franchise was in its prime. The game weds the series' finely tuned gameplay with new additions such as power-ups and the ability to shoot projectiles for specific missions.
[thumb]http://media1.gameinformer.com/imagefeed/screenshots/TonyHawksProSkater5/thps5_school_nyjah_360flip.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://media1.gameinformer.com/imagefeed/screenshots/TonyHawksProSkater5/thps5_warehouse_tony_airwalk_(0-00-00-00)_copy.jpg[/thumb] (More screenshots can be found at the end of the Gameinformer article.) While I'm excited to see the series picking back up again, the developers being the folks who made Ride, Shred and God forbid, the HD remaster makes me very nervous.
The game weds the series' finely tuned gameplay with new additions such as power-ups and the ability to shoot projectiles for specific missions.
Or you could just make it like the older ones.

After American Wasteland, there wasn't a single Tony Hawk's game that felt the same way the old ones did, especially with the new powerups and "shooting" mechanics. Also, the screenshots look like a THPS rebirth on Kickstarter to be honest. :v: (music posted just for the sake of it)
As much I like Tony Hawk games returning, Activsion being in charge just makes me confirm 2 things: There is a low chance of getting this at 75% in future sales and, of course, DLCs!!! Also the developers who are making this game. I would recommend avoiding hype with this game until we see how this turns out.
Having remembered all the awesome unlockable characters and clothing from when I was still a kid in front of a PS2, I'm curious what they'll do this time....and how much extra it will cost.
The game weds the series' finely tuned gameplay with new additions such as power-ups and the ability to shoot projectiles for specific missions.
Aaaand there goes any hype I had for this game. Fuck that bullshit.
those screenshots look awful lmao also that projectile thing, maybe it's just like how you could throw tomatoes in THUG?
Oh man, I'm so excited for this.

A few of the screens show what just has to be Warehouse from THPS1, and I really don't want them to just bank on nostalgia, especially not after THPSHD. I don't really know how to feel about the projectile thing, just depends on how they handle it. I want them to do something new, but it's a mystery to me as to what they should do. Also, I forgot to get this out of the way in the OP, so I probably should here, a favorite from THPS4:
I'm hoping "the ability to shoot projectiles" translates to "shoot the targets mission".
Why is it so hard for them just to make them just like the old pro skater games. If those came out with updated graphics etc I would buy them instantly
skate (rip) is the better series anyways. there hasn't been a good tony hawk in ages. why hype yourself up when they have nothing but shit to show for it

Now, it's the exact opposite.
The game weds the series' finely tuned gameplay with new additions such as power-ups and the ability to shoot projectiles for specific missions.
Why? Who the hell saw this on a whiteboard and thought 'yes, we need this'? I've played the shit out 2 and 3, I was fucking hyped when I saw my dad's Macbook came pre-loaded with 4. I remember when I first played THUG2 and being fucking astounded when I found out the soundtrack had Johnny Cash and Frank friggin' Sinatra alongside Metallica, Ministry and 3 Inches of Blood. While we're sharing songs, here's a song that has been my jam since about 2001-2002, when I first heard it in THPS 2.
Special Character "Tony Hawk with an additional chromosome"
Aaaand there goes any hype I had for this game. Fuck that bullshit.
that shit could mean anything and you're already throwing in the towel lmao jesus fucking christ
[thumb]http://media1.gameinformer.com/imagefeed/screenshots/TonyHawksProSkater5/thps5_warehouse_tony_airwalk_(0-00-00-00)_copy.jpg[/thumb] It's a good thing they improved the blank, emotionless faces.
It would be dope to have a new Underground game. They were fun.
Fuck that.
? THPS has always been pretty ridiculous, what makes powerups and projectiles bad? Esp considering how little we actually know of the game.
that shit could mean anything and you're already throwing in the towel lmao jesus fucking christ
Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, I don't know why people are getting so hung up on a gameplay addition that we know next to nothing about.
Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, I don't know why people are getting so hung up on a gameplay addition that we know next to nothing about.
Maybe it's just a simple "tag" function like in Jet Grind Radio, I could live with that, I am more worried about the overall quality. Graphics look like two generation old. The remakes look better than this. Tony Hawk: Pro Skater 3 HD - Revert Pack [IMG_thumb]http://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/207221/ss_eaf70127ab88230f140af34d4c7b2cce38b18033.jpg?t=1355252400[/IMG_thumb] Tony Hawk: Pro Skater HD [IMG_thumb]http://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/207210/ss_ae821a070ae990b1d79204f6bc6b91754edc2ea8.jpg?t=1355245646[/IMG_thumb] I know graphics aren't everything but it's not like the Tony Hawk gameplay would be too hard to get down.
Wasn't there a gamemode where you shoot fireballs by doing kickflips in thug/thaw
To all the people complaining about projectiles, THPS and THUG have always been full of awesome stupid shit like that.
I'll save my judgement for when I see some actual gameplay.

It might have been a good idea to not show off that second picture of the game. Special edition extra Y chromosome tony should have been a surprise for the masses. Like most other game reveals I'll wait for gameplay to shit on it or praise it
