I'm not a fan of the pixel design compared to the charm of the artwork from the original one but all the updates to Rebirth make it tempting to buy.

I still prefer the smoother art style. The new 16-bit style seems to fit the ~retro~ trend. EDIT: Seeing the actual gifs makes it look nicer. The photos in the post aren't too pleasing.

You can tell a news site is doing their research when they put up concept art that is years old in order to showcase the game.
Oh, awesome. Thanks for showing/correcting that! Now I just wish they'd bring back Danny Baranowski for the OST but the new composer (a band?) seems to go in an interesting direction as well.

The original game had a really good art direction but there was a pretty big problem of the shadering looking too gooey and smooth.

Is rebirth going to be a whole new game or an update to the original game?
