Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee isn’t too happy with the GOP — so unhappy that he just may leave his party.
"[I]f the Republicans wanna lose guys like me, and a whole bunch of still God-fearing Bible-believing people, go ahead and just abdicate on this issue, and go ahead and say abortion doesn't matter either," he said in an interview with the American Family Association’s radio show Tuesday morning.
The one-time presidential hopeful said he was “utterly exasperated” with Republicans for not standing up to the Supreme Court’s decision Monday that paved the way for new states to offer same-sex marriage.
"I'll become an independent, I'll start finding people that have guts to stand. I'm tired of this,” Huckabee threatened.

He can leave its fine, bye idiot.
Things just keep looking better for the Republican party.
People ought to have the guts to stand up for their beliefs that they were ordered to follow by an angry, vengeful god.
Their stance can't get any wider than it is now.
And nothing of value was lost.
A reminder. This is Mike Huckabee when he was in office:

For context: This Hour Has 22 Minutes is sort of Canada's version of the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, in that it's a current-events parody/satire comedy "news" program. They have/had a long-running segment called Talking to Americans, where they go down and take advantage of the fact that Americans can't tell the difference between real things about Canada and bullshit real-sounding things about Canada and to also take advantage of the fact that people will try to avoid looking stupid on camera so you can lead them into saying lots of dumb things.
The "national igloo" is a story This Hour cooked up to tell Americans involving the Canadian House of Parliament being a scaled-down replica of the White House, only made of ice, and global warming was making it melt but Canada found a way to protect it. (This is total BS.)
I mean, okay, there's a chance he's playing along, but Huckabee doesn't seem like the kind of person to willingly make fun of himself on national Canadian television. Meanwhile, in Canada around the same time...
Who knows, libertarians may actually be able to gain control of the republican party. What a day that will be.

Yay, instead of religious fucknuts and the Koch brothers, we'll just have the Koch brothers.
For a second I thought he left the Republican party because he had non-bigoted views and was tired of the religious bigotry perpetuated by the party.
lol nope
Nah, Huckabee's biggest claim to fame is becoming a major candidate for the 2008 Republican nomination and then throwing it all away with an outburst of religious zeal that would make even Rick Perry slightly uncomfortable.

Nah nah nah, man, you got it all wrong. He ain't vengeful no more after he sent his son here to be nailed to a piece of wood and poked with a spear until he bled out over the course of several days.
But man he sho do hate them gays still.
Sounds like Huckabee is trying too hard.
As hilarious as Huckabee is, the increase in independent right-wing uber-conservatives always worries me. When people become dissatisfied with majoritarian political parties they tend to turn to grassroots movements. Unfortunately, as this is Murrica' there are really only right-wing movements; the equivalent movements of the center and left were edged out in the last century.
A choice between 'Libertarians', 'Muh-Tea-Party', Neutered Republicans, and the Democrats is still a pretty meaningless and shit political scene. Not that that's likely, but seeing any kind of reactionary populism is always a bad sign.
i wouldn't say republicans have gone back on abortion or even abdicated the issue (however the fuck you can do that)
after all they're still on track to make abortions illegal in all states by 2020 in the name of womens health and safety
go ahead and just abdicate on this issue, and go ahead and say abortion doesn't matter either,
Hey, good advice Mike!

You know, maybe the Republican party would be better-regarded if they talked about the policies which actually affect the fucking country, rather than talking on and on and on about how gay marriage and abortion are destroying the nation whilst the economy gradually flies further and further out of control.

The final nail in the party's coffin.
