After all, Metcalfe has been at the head of the British magazine since its first issue in 1998 and has owned or driven nearly every vehicle you can imagine. The amazing machine that's netted such admiration from Metcalfe? The Scamander, a truly all-terrain vehicle designed and built by Peter Wheeler, the man who owned British boutique automaker TVR for 23 years. With its 300-horsepower V6 engine, the Scamander is reportedly capable of hitting 60 miles per hour in about eight seconds and can hit a top speed of 120 mph. On land, that is... You see, there's also a impeller out back, meaning this crazy floating contraption can also take to the water. Sadly, Wheeler died before seeing this project to completion, but his wife and a team of engineers made sure that the Scamander finally saw the light of day in fully finished form. Scroll down below to see Metcalfe take the Scamander over land and sea.
http://www.autoblog.com/2012/05/25/scamander-is-the-go-anywhere-swim-across-anything-rv-from-engla/
Not going to get very far off road with those tyres/ground clearance.
A futuristic car that actually looks futuristic instead of a potato with wheels? Cool

That car has a strong "Red Faction Guerrilla" vibe to it, but I like it.
That car has a strong "Red Faction Guerrilla" vibe to it, but I like it.
First thought that came to my mind was "less cool dark knight batmobile".
at least the paint's got a good gritty look to it, I'd hate for the future to be all sterile metal sheets and solid colours the future is edgy
at least the paint's got a good gritty look to it, I'd hate for the future to be all sterile metal sheets and solid colours the future is edgy
Yeah it has solid gray and solid orange. So edgy and cool, totally not solid colors.
Where can I get one?
Makes me think of those sweet vehicles in Minority Report
I actually don't like the orange, but other than that, it looks sweet.
I want one. :(
How much?
So what if it "only" goes 193.12 km/h. I would buy that because it looks awesome, and goes on water and has good off-road capabilities.
Do want, Although I'd still prefer a marauder.

I don't think there are many roads that permit such speeds. And even then chances are you won't be driving on them with this thing.
Not going to get very far off road with those tyres/ground clearance.
Tires are multi purpose (road and dirt) and ground clearance can ALWAYS be adjusted. And its also wide enough so stability should be fine, off-roading is done with traction.. not with ride height. We had a Daihatsu piece of crap 4x4 from the 80's/90's.. we pulled farming equipment out of quicksand with it and it had as much tire profile as the bottom of your sneakers.

We are in the year 2012 and our cars still move on wheels. Where's the god damn hover cars!?
THE FUTURE!
We are in the year 2012 and our cars still move on wheels. Where's the god damn hover cars!?
The amount of energy required to keep an object of such mass hovering would be too much to make it a practical solution for motorised transport.
The amount of energy required to keep an object of such mass hovering would be too much to make it a practical solution for motorised transport.
That's a bad excuse, it's 2012. Where are my floating cars and 3d projectors.
It looks like one of those cars you see on the streets in DX:HR
It looks like one of those cars you see on the streets in DX:HR
Augmentations soon, we're getting close
Looks like the batmobile and Adam Jensen's love child.
That's a bad excuse, it's 2012. Where are my floating cars and 3d projectors.
It's 2012. They don't exist.
How is this futuristic? Future vehicles are unlikely to use gasoline and the soviets made the BRDM back in the 1950's which was amphibious, all terrain, AND armor plated. (albeit relatively little) Their BTR-80's are also amphibious. I fail to see the future in this. The tech has been done before. Slapping in a higher horse power engine and removing the armor plating does not a future car make.
Do you happen to have a small dick by any chance?
It can take a hit from a landmine and an RPG and keep going.
It can take a hit from a landmine and an RPG and keep going.
No it can't. It will just keep the crew safe. Virtually nothing can survive a proper anti-vehicle mine.
It can take a hit from a landmine and an RPG and keep going.
Because you really need that in a first world country highway, right? I'm tired of having to dodge landmines and rpgs every time I drive to work.
