• Need Maps for Tournament, details inside!

That's right, I'm working on a tournament. Specifically, an "OC Tournament" (OC = Original Character). These are very popular on Deviant Art (Look up "Law of Talos"), and after a long while browsing the MS Paint section and seeing all the Pixel Wars content, I decided to start working on one for the forum. What I need from you guys is some custom maps, representing different sections of the forum in a unique way. Not a wide map, but a nice little layout for one-on-one battles and the like, with lots of interesting details. But, before starting on drawings, I'd like to discuss what the different sections of the forum would look like in the first place, then settle on ideas to be drawn out. :siren: I would like to compensate the mapper(s) with a little bit of money, possibly in the form of a steam game or the like. I gotta get the cash first, but I can at least guarantee five bucks. :siren: As for the tournament itself, here's the details from another thread that I (literally) crashed just for this: [release]Cross-Forum Content: All mediums allowed for entries, such as MS Paint, Photoshop, Scanned pencil sketches, etc. Format of Battle: Bracketed; Contestants will be randomly paired off and each will be given a set amount of time to draw out the battle between the two characters, 10 frame comic minimum. Whoever draws the better fight is chosen to be what actually happens in the tournament. Setup: A map will be provided, in which contestants are randomly placed around the edge in different terrains, which all represent portions of Facepunch. Judging: At the end of your time period, you will PM me your submissions and I will post all of the current submissions side-by-side. One day will be given for people to speak up and vote for person A or B. The person voted continues in the tournament, the person who loses that round is killed off in the other person's comic. Prize: CASH MONEY (or steam game or something). I'll have to budget out just how much the end result will be worth. More people, more money... but if it's just four people over two rounds, maybe five bucks.[/release] SO, if this is cross-media, why the PW-style battlefields? I want to have a very clear view of how an arena is set up so the contestants maintain the layout with ease, nomatter how they decide to use/redraw it. These are the categories I'd like to hit, but more are welcome as suggestions: General Discussion Hardware/Software Fast Threads Games Section CC/MSPaint sections Refugee Camp Gold Members Forum also thoughts on what the final boss area should be would be nice. Existing maps can be used as a starter base for new ones, but I want the maps to be unique and interesting, matching their forum section. I should note, you're all free to join, but I'm not quite sure how a PW style fight would occur in this kind of setup, where one person decides an entire fight between both characters. Voting will be based mostly on who's comic was more interesting, so I'd like to see some crazy effort if you're gunning for that style.
General Discussion will be a massacre of dead bodies and burning tires. [editline]08:53PM[/editline] Final Boss area is OIFY or The Endgame Im up for doing the Gold Members forum though.
For the final battle, I will work on a temple at the top of a mountain. Mount Colossus!
Damn, Live stole my idea from my mind [editline]08:54PM[/editline] For the OIFY idea
I sense noobs incoming
I think the MSPaint section should be just a prt scr. of the paint screen, with added stuff, like a half destroyed dropper on the ground and stuff like that!
No, Actually I really want to work on the refugee camp. :D
I can't be bothered, but for gold member forum you could do a huge gold temple. :v:
I think the MSPaint section should be just a prt scr. of the paint screen, with added stuff, like a half destroyed dropper on the ground and stuff like that!
hah, that would be neat to incorporate the UI of mspaint/photoshop and the like for the arts sections, but I want to give everything a 'real-world' feel, like it's all part of one massive city and everyone's working their way towards a central location. [editline]02:58PM[/editline] speaking of the one-massive-city thing, I'd also need a top-down map with all of the sections drawn out, once we figure out what each section is. Think forests in this area, city over here, plains, blahblahblah
Gold Members forum is a golden temple filled with jewels and the like on top of a mountain, on the sides of the mountain is excrement and dead bodies, some with gold chains on them, there will also be a gravestone that says 'R.I.P Lankist'
Sound interesting. I'm just glad a mod cares! :buddy:

Creative Corner would be like New Orleans or Harlem. Fuck I don't know.

I need a new game, so I'm totally going for this. D:
I am constructing the refugee camp now. Shall it be an island or a slum?
How large can the map be?
How bout A refugee camp A camp With tents And fires
I was actually thinking prison cells, but whatever works, you're the mappers ;D also, size isn't much of an issue, just keep it relatively small, so there's no scrolling involved. I'd like scenery that can be used to a player's advantages, expected or at random. Who knows what a player might do with their surroundings. ;D
I am constructing the refugee camp now. Shall it be an island or a slum?
Slum apartment building where anyone who walks outside their room gets shanked, with several cops patrolling all floors.
I could work on the top down thing, but I'm not quite sure what you're getting at. Would the final maps have to be used for the top down or whut? As for the views thing, we're not used to mods so all go woooo into thread. :v:
I will do it. Results expected in 30mins.
Perhaps for General Discussion, just have a general city, not really much in the way of features, just General I would so do it by the way, got ideas in ma head
fuck this i'm to shit at this kinda stuf. D:
sounds good. The top-down thing should be a general map, not detailed. Still, I'd wait til all the different sections are mapped out. and, for the record, I can't shell out the cash til the end of the week, so be patient with that guys :sweatdrop:
Are you doing this to attract people to the PW forums
Any general size you want the rooms to be? As in, height. Or just like a normal PW map?
not a single room, but not a massive map. Just enough for a nice 1v1 match, like two buildings, next to each other, multiple 'levels' up, things to climb on/throw around... I should find a nice example in the maps around the PW forums. one sec-
What should be the general size of the map? 600x600? [editline]09:14PM[/editline] Or bigger
I like this, as far as size/scale. Biggest I think it should get. (courtesy of cheesdelux)
