The checks and balances is working fine, the Supreme Court can't do anything about a law until it actually becomes a law and then gets challenged.

This bill is still a bill, not yet a law, the Supreme Court can't do anything to it yet.

All or nothing. If you want guns gone, you need to give yours up too. As long as guns are legally acquirable, and without harsh sentencing for gun violations, gun crime will be extremely easy to commit.

Eh, sort of. the Amendment was more made with the idea of civil militias in mind since it was written at a time when the US had little to no standing army and memories of governments using their armies for tyranny were fresh. It was meant so that citizens could defend against both external threat and local tyrants. Either way this bill needs to die and Feinstein seriously needs to either shut up or lose her position already.

In Australia, our Firearms Act has a clause stating you are exempt if you require a gun to perform your duties for the Crown. Basically that means if it's your government job to use a gun, you're exempt. It doesn't however, give politicians the right to own guns everyone else can't. I imagine this is the opposite
