I want to play lots of games smoothly on full settings on 1680x1050 Go nuts [editline]07:06PM[/editline] And please dont give me a cheaper build just because of my res. I like it that size.
You can get games running well at 1080p at that price.
And can you guys also tell me a $1300 1680x1050 gaming build for my dad
Your dad games? Awesome!
Honestly if I were you I would get 1 or 2 1920x1080 monitors in that budget.
http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=13653925 Get whatever case you want, that case is just the one I personally recommend. Anyway you have a good amount of budget space for a gaming kb/m.
With your resolution, $2k would be a waste. Get a $1000 build.
If I had $2000 to blow on a computer I would probably get something like this: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=13654325
mine is superior, it has a 3 monitor setup
3 monitors are useless if he doesn't use them. Considering the fact that he's currently gaming on a single monitor at a sub-1080p resolution, I'm sure a single 1080p monitor more than fits the bill. The main issue with your build is that in order to fit those three monitors in, you sacrificed on every other part. And a 1000W PSU? Really? I didn't know he was running quad-CFX/SLI. Mine only has the 850w because I like to leave room for the option of SLI/CFX should the buyer want it in the future. i5 builds belong in the $1000 zone, not at the ultra-high-end of the spectrum. Where your setup has three monitors and may remain fairly decent as-is for 2 or 3 years, mine sacrifices the other two monitors (really only one considering that he already has one) for a massive boost in performance and slightly longer longevity. [editline]10:23PM[/editline] Hell OP if you really want to get a $1500 build that will still perform great (i5 750/5870) and watercool it.
You could make an i7/GTX 470 build for sub $1000 probably
Shit guys, i should have mentioned im in canada
http://secure.newegg.ca/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=13654325 Build adjusted accordingly.
http://secure.newegg.ca/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=13654325 Build adjusted accordingly.
Looks pretty nice man, i mightdo this but with a Haf x [editline]12:05AM[/editline] Should i do a gtx 480 or hd 5970?
Looks pretty nice man, i mightdo this but with a Haf x [editline]12:05AM[/editline] Should i do a gtx 480 or hd 5970?
Its up to you whether the extra $200 for the 5970 is worth the extra performance. Here's a benchmark for you: http://www.guruht.com/2010/03/geforce-gtx-480-vs-hd5970-benchmark.html
And what about cpu cooling
The stock heatsink should be good enough unless you plan on overclocking. If you do, look into the Hyper 212+ or the Arctic Freezer 7(Both great budget heatsinks), and pick up a tube of Arctic Silver.
Stock is generally fine unless you're planning to Overclock. [editline]12:14AM[/editline] Damn ninjas
So does anyone have an idea for my dads $1300-1400 1680x1050 gaming build? He does not need a screen. [editline]12:23AM[/editline] And i am planning to OC
i don't even recommend stock for anything, they're shitty as fuck.
i don't even recommend stock for anything, they're shitty as fuck.
Nope.avi. According to benchmarksstock compared to a corsair h50 is not off by far
Nothing wrong with stock. Well. I mean it's only worth OCing if you need the extra power.
That's alot of money for 2 computers.
