Kanye West is reportedly threatening to release a David Bowie covers album following the “Starman” singer’s unexpected death last week.
Update: Over 20,000 people have now signed the petition
This is only a rumour at present, with nothing confirmed by either the rapper or anyone connected with him, but that hasn’t stopped a petition emerging to stop him going all Ziggy Stardust on us.
WTF
there's no point stopping him since it was already foretold.
how in the crap did I not even see this before
No one is forcing people to listen to this.
Let the guy make a tribute album, jesus fucking christ.
The wording of this article reads like it was written by some 40 year old dad.
Kanye West is reportedly threatening to release a David Bowie covers album
Lmao fuck off
What's wrong with a tribute album?
Because it's cool to hate Kanye.
I'm not the biggest Kanye fan I like some of his songs but this is just retarded, if he wants to pay tribute to someone who inspired him let him its not like him releasing a tribute album is gonna destroy every thing Bowie built in his career.
I'm pretty sure that this was confirmed to not be true.
Yeah TMZ said that Kanye's PR team said he has no plans to record a tribute album.
I read about this a few days ago, Kanye never had any intention of doing a tribute.
Lady Gaga will be doing one at the Grammies, though.
I know this is confirmed false, but damn there's a lot of anger out there. While I'm not too fond of his covers, for example:

I don't see why that should prevent anyone from making a tribute album regardless.
The reason people are mad is because they think released a tribute album would be trying to ride on David death and make a shit load of money.

This basically. Making a tribute album is a nice gesture, but a very scummy thing to do if you charge for it, especially right after someone's death just to make yourself look relevant.
He can't sing at all and he knows this, but with his production talent I'm sure he could make an excellent tribute album given how groundbreaking and influential the majority of Bowie's catalog was in regards to production work among everything else.
wow if he released something i don't have to listen to that would sure fuck everything up
has it even been 2 months since the last "stop kanye from doing something" petition
I'm actually curious as to what this sounds like honestly. That and what songs he chooses.
Frankly considering to honor Bowie's work, despite most people would rush to call it capitalizing on his death, shows the man has a greater musical understanding. Least we could do is see if it sounds like shit first.
hes too busy with a new album coming out in 5 days this rumor has no base
I don't think he could pull off the glam rock stuff, but if he covered Young Americans or some of the other soul stuff I think it might be alright.
guys dont you get it rap sux and kanye is totally dissin bowie by even acknowledging his existence
like if your a '10s kid and you LOVE classic rock!! :downs:
The definition of a click bait article.

It's cool for George Bush to not care about black people
One of the classic examples of hate boner gone VIRAL.
The memes of today are shit, I don't think it's funny to hate the same thing I think things like long-ass cats are funny.

You don't need to like it and your insight is not insightful or anything someone else hasn't already said.
"I'm so elitist and self-absorbed that I honestly believe music I don't like shouldn't exist"
No-one is forcing them to listen to it. Jesus christ how entitled can people be.
lmao,
there are like 1000 videos of college kids doing folk versions of real trap hip hop that people love sharing on facebook
Kanye is rumored to want to make a tribute album to an artist that probably was inspirational to him and 20,000 people sign a petition

but they have no idea how he'd do it, because he isn't doing it. If he were, it would be very likely he'd contribute a large portion of the money towards a cancer charity
I love how it says he's threatening.

While I can agree you both have opinions, I can however state a fact. And the fact is that the cover in the video is terrible, now how is that a fact?
Everybody knows that in order to be a good singer, you would need a good balance of pitch, rhythm, harmony, and form. And Kanye in that video had none of that.
His voice crack at the beginning, the music constanly cutting completely in an off way, switching to freddie's vocals and then back to the instrumental, how he gets off-pitch at certain parts of the song, his voice getting hoarse-like at parts that are supposed to sound strong and the cover being as short as 2 minutes, not counting the already smaller part where Kanye actually sings the damn song.
He should release it for free so it doesn't look like he's cashing in on a dead celebrity. But it's Kanye so of course he's doing just that.

That is very doubtful.

Congratulations, you've found objective reasons to clarify a popular opinion. It doesn't change the fact that, like what Take_Opal said, it isn't insightful, as anyone can deduce what your pointlessly complex examination has, from just watching the video. I'm almost certain that the people that were actually at the concert actually enjoyed themselves, but why? Why would they enjoy themselves if, clearly, according to your implications, it's objectively not good? It's a simple matter of preference. Opinion. Taste. So no matter how much "objective" reasoning you and others have for not liking thing, it doesn't make it any less of an opinion. I personally think the cover was god-awful, but have you noticed that I haven't injected my opinion into the thread? Because it's off-topic, a pointless and redundant post, and isn't insightful. This isn't the debate section, so stop trying to disguise your agenda with over examination, no one cares (except for maybe me).
