US Soldier shot in Afghanistan saved by his iPhone.
A US soldier with a unit in Eastern Afghanistan was shot in combat, and bled profusely, nearing death. Helicopters picked him up, medics inspected his injuries, cut off his clothes and looked through his pockets. They found his iPhone, with a bullet hole through it.
"They said that the iPhone probably changed the trajectory of the bullet, making the wound shallower in his flesh. The protective cover he had on his phone made it so the glass didn't shatter, making his wounds worse. He and his friends joked they should replace their body armor with iPads."
Doctors say the iPhone changed the trajectory of the bullet, preventing it from severing his femoral artery.
introducing the iArmour.
Few of these situations happened before, but that's just amazing.

Tim Cook should be given a Medal of Honor for this incredible act of bravery
There's an app for everything these days.
he should have asked siri if a terrorist was aiming at him before he took a bullet
My iPhone saved my life once. I didn't know how to get to Target and Siri came through.
I really doubt it saved his life. Even a 9mm will go straight through an iPhone (or any phone for that matter). A 7.62 will probably be completely unaffected (other than squashing itself, possibly making it even more dangerous).
Want music? Buy an iPhone!
Want movies? Buy an iPhone!
Want games? Buy an iPhone!
Want armor? Buy an iPhone!
I doubt it had that effect but one never knows, ballistics get crazy at times.
He's lucky he didn't get lithium poisoning and other fancy stuff, tho.
This reminds me of an old Tv show I used to watch as a kid... I think it was Bonanza but I can't remember. The guy had a bible or journal in his front pocket and it stopped the bullet from hitting him in the heart.
I knew buying an iPhone was the right thing to do.

It can only be penetrated by our new iBullet!
this is akin to what happened to theodore roosevelt
"Siri, how do I stop internal bleeding?"
"Checking on that for you, private"

Yeah those doctors don't know what they are talking about. I'm glad we have your professional opinion.

Except it passed through a steel glasses case and his 50 page speech papers first. And he was shot with a revolver.

I hate posts like that. Did I state my opinion as fact? Actually, is there some particular reason for you to act like an ass?

Your point? It doesn't say he used a 'bullet resistant' case, does it?

One could create a power armor by simply taping a lot of 3310 together.

It says it's the case that did it
It also says it affected the trajectory, directing it away from the femoral artery (which certainly would have killed him, had it been severed)

The protective cover he had on his phone made it so the glass didn't shatter

It was obviously bullet resistant to some degree because the cause caused prevented the bullet from shattering the glass and caused him to have a shallower wound without shards of glass in it.

Did I say you said it as fact? I said your opinion, which seemed professional the way you were stating it with such certainty.

You don't have to bold and quote the excerpt again, I can read perfectly well. What I understand from that is that the cover kept the screen from shattering in his wound, not that it stopped the bullet.
And a roll of toilet paper is 'bullet resistant to some degree'. Heck, wrapping a phone with cellophane wrap and shooting it will prevent the screen from shattering.

...It says the case stopped the glass from shattering, not that it stopped the bullet. As I said, I find it hard to believe that an iPhone can dramatically change the trajectory of a bullet (unless it was fired at an awkward angle, but I don't want to go into that, because it's all guesswork). The article isn't particularly ripe with details.

You certainly replied as if I were. No need to act like a smartass for no reason at all.
Jokes on him, the guy was actually aiming for the iphone all along. He was jealous.
