How do I work on breaking hand synchronization while playing an instrument?

I've been working on playing the piano a bit lately, not formally learning but just teaching myself various songs/tunes, and it's going pretty well, can play with left and right hands, but I just can't seem to play with both at the same time. It's almost impossible to separate the actions of the two in my mind, so I can't keep a rhythm with my left and play with the right. How do I go about working on fixing this?

By practising, and doing lots of it. Start off slow, playing whatever you can play comfortably with both hands, even if it is incredibly basic and sounds like shit. Slowly speed it up, adding more notes etc. but only stepping it up when you are comfortable with what you're already playing.

Do the same thing for 10 seconds with your right hand, then just let it continue doing that while you start to focus on your left hand?

Practice fapping with different hands. If you get them at the same speed, you're pretty much in sync.

Not at the moment, but try it sometime. When you fap, count your FPM (Faps per minute) and after a minute, switch hands and go for the same FPM. Your hands will be in sync, and will actually help you become ambidextrous. Crazy shit, huh?

I play as well - you need practice and a lot of it. Just play really slow and work your way up. I found that getting formal lessons was a hundred times better than trying to teach myself. If you're really interested, it's best you go get some lessons.
