Simmons has been cast as the Gotham City police commissioner. Justice League, which will be directed by Zack Snyder, sees heroes Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) teaming up to combat a threat beyond each member's capabilities. Chris Terrio wrote the screenplay for Justice League, which will be released in two parts by Warner Bros. It's produced by Charles Roven, Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder. Justice League: Part One will start shooting in mid-April. It's slated for release on Nov 17, 2017 while Part Two will hit theaters on June 14, 2019. Warner Bros.' next DC film will be Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which hits theaters on March 25. The DC Comics character Commissioner James Gordon has been played by a slew of actors over the years, including Lyle Talbot in the 1949 series Batman and Robin, Neil Hamilton in the TV series Batman in the 1960s, Pat Hingle in the Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher Batman movie franchise, and most recently, by Gary Oldman in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight films. The character is an integral part of the Batman literary mythos and is the lead character in Gotham, Fox's take on Gordon's early days, where he is played by Ben McKenzie. Simmons is already a familiar face in the superhero world as he played publisher J. Jonah Jameson in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies. Simmons has been very busy since winning the best supporting actor Oscar for Whiplash in 2015. He’s reteaming with Damien Chazelle for his musical La La Land, and he voices a character in this past weekend’s big hit animated film Zootopia. He recently joined Mark Wahlberg in the Boston bombing film Patriots’ Day, and he’ll be seen in The Meddler with Susan Sarandon and Rose Byrne, which is due out in April. His other projects in post including The Accountant with Ben Affleck, Bastards with Owen Wilson and Ed Helms and The Snowman with Michael Fassbender. He’s repped by Gersh.
Marveldrones hoping for his return as J. Jonah Jameson are on suicide watch now. Actually, this is a role I can definitely see him in. He's a great actor, and even if the movie does end up being shit, I have no doubt that he'll still shine in the role.
I guess that kind of kills the hopes of him returning as J. Jonah Jameson in MCU Spider-Man
Marveldrones hoping for his return as J. Jonah Jameson are on suicide watch now.
Why? It's an easy fix, just get Gary Oldman to do it.
If he really was being considered to return to the role of J Jonah Jameson then yeah I hope this doesn't prevent that in some way. It'd suck to not get more of that. But as far as this role goes I'm sure he'll kill it.

One of my favorite Batman characters played by one of my favorite actors? I'm okay with this. And yes, I'm one of those weird people who likes Commissioner Gordon more than any of the superheroes and/or villains in the DC universe. :v:
Works for me. I really hope this film turns out good but I have some pretty strong doubts.
No, he's too funny to be Gordon. Honestly Nolan picked the best actor to be gordon Still it's a solid casting, doesn't mean the rest of the movie isn't terrible
No, he's too funny to be Gordon
Have you SEEN Whiplash?! Nothing funny about him in that movie

Jim Gordon for life!
Fuck it, just have him play both roles.
That is a weird cast choice..... didn't they already have a perfect actor in the batman movies? In any case BRING ME PICTURES OF BATMAN.
The first time he uses the Bat signal to call Batman he needs to have a line like "I'm glad you could swing by".
Something looked extremely off about the picture in the OP so I google image searched "Commissioner Gordon" to check. Where the fuck are his glasses? OK that's a picture from Spiderman nevermind Someone photoshop a thick moustache and some square glasses on him so we can get a better idea of what he'll look like.
I love J.K. Simmons but I'm not sure if this casting is the best. Maybe I'm just too used to a more soft-spoken, calm, weary Gordon, but Simmons brings a lot of energy to his roles. He's a great actor though, so I'm sure he'd be able to pull it off really well. And hell, a different spin on Gordon might be really fun to watch.
*yelling at Batman* "Were you rushing or were you dragging?"

When i see him i can't stop thinking about JJJ, Cave Johnson and Stanford Pines, and i think i'll soon add Commisioner Gordon to that list, he's a great actor, i also really liked his role in Whiplash
