Deb Chaplain already had two dogs of her own, but this one latched onto her daughter at the family’s home at Thompson Rivers Estates near Walhachin, a small town located about 65 kilometres west of Kamloops.
She called her neighbours and was told the medium-sized dog had been seen around for a few days, going to the river for water.
"Nobody knew the dog or the description" she said Tuesday.
So Chaplain called the Kamloops SPCA shelter to see if anyone had reported the dog missing.
"My daughter’s called her Suki. The dog was really well behaved and obviously loved. You can tell by the temperament."
The shelter had no missing reports and also no room, so Suki stayed at chez Chaplain for three weeks.
Then last Friday, a kennel space came open.
On Saturday, Chaplain got a call. Suki was fine, and a scan showed she had a microchip that was traced to a vet clinic in Montreal.

"She just disappeared in June, 2010. We didn’t close the gate carefully and she just disappeared" Robitaille said.
Her kids – Antoyne, 8; Lily-Ann, 4; and Morgane, 20 months – desperately missed their dog (as did the family cat, who would snuggle with Pollux on the couch). Robitaille checked with various shelters to no avail.
"The older kids cried a lot when she ran away. Now they’re crying because she’s coming home."
Robitaille herself was perplexed as to how her dog travelled so far.
Holy shit that's a hell of a long way.
Maybe someone picked the dog up and moved it
This is clearly viral marketing for Homeward Bound III: The Canadian Connection.

Isn't Suki to like/love in Japanese? In what language is Suki "bitches"?

Damn you're totally right. Foreign languages will always defeat me when it comes to which one I think of first, in this case I went with something derogatory instead of something pleasant so I feel like a dick, sorry!

Same thing, I just didn't type it in Cyrillic.

Oh ok, I just assume anything within the Japanese phonetic system is Japanese because I don't know anything but English and a bit of French/Japanese v:v:v

Suka non-pleb-Cyrillic masterrace
I feel a bit bad for the dog in a way. It lived four years on it's own, obviously doing fine if it made it such a great distance. It didn't look unhealthy in the video. Now it's back to a life of being penned in a residential area. If it ran away, and stayed away it most likely wanted that. When my dog has snuck out the front door she always comes back in a few hours, smelling like hell but happy to be home, on her own accord.
This is from 2011.
