"Boycott Scotland" over a decision made by a government most of us don't support.

Yeah you've probably heard the hype about Abdelbaset al-Megrahi and the hero's welcome, the FBI director getting pissed and my government ruthlessly defending their decision. There's even been an implication that Brown urged Salmond, head of the SNP (Scottish National Party), to release him.
This site takes it too fucking far, though. I'm not one for patriotism, but it gives the implication that we as a country supported the decision, when the majority, if not all, did not. Megrahi's family lives in my area, there's rumours that they've had or still have state sponsored security working for them. That pisses me off enough, without thinking of Megrahi being released after a terribly short amount of jail time. Yeah, it was a compassionate decision but a fucking ignorant one.
So please, boycott my country and everyone in it, completely avoid all business and tourism with us because our government made an extremely poor decision.
Most especially after the horrific events of 9/11, the world needs to be reminded that terrorism must be punished and never rewarded. Terrorists must never be shown compassion or mercy, for these people have no respect for human life. The British, who ironically have themselves been victim to numerous acts of terrorism on their own soil, seem to have forgotten. They need a reminder, and protesting by boycotting travel and business with Scotland and the United Kingdom is the best way of doing so.
No, quite frankly it isn't. The public agree the decision is wrong and we haven't forgotten about terrorism. The reference to 9/11 here as well really pissed me off, if we're talking about the UK why not refer to the July '05 London Underground and bus bombings or the attempted bombing of Glasgow Airport. Yes, I know there were fewer victims but the intent was still there.
NOTE: While most emails have thus far been very supportive, whether they be from Americans, British citizens, and many others, there have been a few British and Scottish individuals who have sent threatening and extremely defamatory messages towards American relatives and friends of the Lockerbie victims.
At least show the emails. There is absolutely no adequate reason for any Scottish or British people to email the families of victims of the flight.
Lest there be any doubt, this boycott is not aimed against the people of Scotland or the United Kingdom, but against the governments of Scotland and Britain. The unfortunate reality is that initiating boycotts against the tourism, banking, and oil industries of a particular country are necessary in order to force that government to listen and understand and admit their error.
Here the main problem with boycotting Scotland is addressed but it's totally unfair on the people of Scotland and the UK. Doing all this shit to assure our government admits fault just hurts our industry in the long run. The SNP are unlikely to survive this kind of publicity and if Brown had anything to do with it, it wouldn't matter, he's already on his way out.
I'm biased, I know, but this just seemed a little unfair as the publicity itself is damaging the SNP enough. There isn't a need to boycott the UK as well.
Also, "support" in the title refers to the decision not the political party although the same probably goes for both.
I love the irony.
"Terrorists must be shown no mercy, we must boil them in vats of oil filled with the carcasses of whales and dogs! Why? Because they won't show you mercy!"
People are fucking hypocrites.
I'm not going to boycott Scotland.
I'm going to buy shit from there if I want to this is America.
And they call boycotting a country full of good, innocent people 'just' and 'fair'?
Lolturtle is a stupid American stereotype.
And they call boycotting a country full of good, innocent people 'just' and 'fair'?
Pretty much. As only the government will suffer through boycotting, not the people in said country.

Mmmkay.
Oh, and what's all this fuss about? I've been kinda out of touch with the news for a while, what's happened in Scotland that's so bad?

Basically it's the entire country's fault that a mass murderer has been released from one of our prisons and not those in our government who were responsible for making the decision.
The director of the FBI got all pissed at Salmond and now he's defending his decision against all kinds of protest from his own people and those from America who were affected in some way. There's been an implication that the intent was to improve relations between countries and possibly secure some kind of deal for natural resources or whatever.
It's been hyped up like fuck and Salmond refuses to acknowledge his decision was a poor one.
Also that image made me very happy.
DDoS that bitch of a website, now.
Geez only a few select people in the government would be responsibly for such actions. But they could be trying create upheaval in populace so they would protest and them officials give it. whats with the american and bitching and blaming people no responsibility . The only Country that has the write to criticize the United kingdom would be Russia over them harboring figurative terrorist responsible for bombing and other attacks agianst Russia
According to the C4 news, there'll be a vote next week in the Scottish government to see who supported the decision.
Wow they're gonna boycott all of the UK over this? Wow, that's just low, lower than an atom, They can go shove their big heads up their massive arsholes, ohwait they can't because they've got a stick up there.
Owned. Liberal pussy Scotland deserves it.

Nice one.
There's a lot of controversy about whether this guy did it in the first place that people in government seem unwilling to hear (read the Private Eye if you don't already, lots of conflicting stories) so I'm not sure if I support his decision or not. That said, this is completely over the top either way - It was the decision of one man to release him, not the entire country.
What people don't seem to understand is that Scots Law dictates that anyone with 3 or less months to live, is released on compassionate grounds to die at home. Anyone. I'm not saying I agree with the release, I don't, I think it's sickening, but you can't let some people free and keep others locked up. The Justice system is the same for everyone, regardless of who they are or what crime they have commited. Now obviously we can't say "Oh, sorry. But can we have him back". The only thing that could possibly be done from here, is a reform of our justice system, so that things like this don't happen again.
And perhaps it'll lead to a non-SNP government next time around, and Alex Salmond and Kenny McAskill being jobless.
But a complete boycott of Scotland is just a little extreme. The release was the decision of one person. Why make an entire country and it's economy suffer for one mans actions?
To be honest this is just another case of America being Ignorant and Stupid and getting too patriotic over something as little as some people dying, HEADS UP AMERICA! PEOPLE DIE ALL THE TIME!

I was boycotting scotland before it was cool
I was boycotting scotland before it was cool
That's so Year one.
Honestly, I consider the guys trial completely invalid until the government agree to release every scrap of information about it to the public. Currently there is information which the justice system has admitted will never be made public.

Having someone to blame is comfortable I guess. Who cares if he might be innocent.
Why is everyone so pissed? The guy is gonna die in 3 months anyway.

Exactly my thoughts. The only reason I replied to the other thread about it is to troll the idiots jumping on the bandwagon
I wouldn't be surprised if boycott scotland was done by amerifags.
