That’s the word from city officials who say there isn’t enough room for the tens of thousands of firefighters, police and other rescue workers. According to a report by the Daily News, security issues and making sure that all of the victims’ families will be able to participate in the 10th anniversary of 9/11, contributed to first responders not being invited to the ceremony. Phil, a construction worker at Ground Zero, says the city needs to figure out a way to have first responders at this anniversary. “I think that they should be allowed to go because too many of their brothers and sisters lost their lives and they should be the first ones that are included,” he said. “They should make it happen. I’m sure there are going to be a lot of people here who shouldn’t be here.” First responders will be given a separate ceremony at a later date. Both President Barack Obama and former president George W. Bush will be at this year’s ceremony as well as former mayor Rudy Giuliani and other dignitaries, meaning extra security will be on hand. In addition, only a limited number of lawmakers from the Tri-state area will be allowed to attend. On Friday, House Speaker Rep. John Boehner said the government would be paying for representatives from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut to attend the ceremony. An estimated 91,000 police, firefighters and other first responders helped with the search and rescue efforts in the wake of the September 11th attacks.
Sure, they get their own ceremony, but they're not invited to attend the 10th anniversary ceremony? That's REALLY fucked up.
9/11 First Responders are the new Vietnam Vets.
if all 91,000 of them want to come, they should be allowed to, if they're willing to dig through rubble that will potentially give them all sorts of fun diseases, then the the least we can do is let them come to a ceremony.
Aren't first responders victims as well, considering they are all practically family? If my firefighting buddy died trying to save people, I'd expect to be able to go to show my support with my other comrades.
I seriously doubt there is room for 91,000 people right in the middle of downtown New York.
They can close shit down. They closed half of Baltimore for a stupid street race, they can close parts of NYC for a day for this. This is kinda important.
Well of course, they need their places to give to the Muslim media darlings, fucking Hollywood.
I heard it's because they don't want any of them to say what they think they heard or saw from their first hand view of the situation but instead they invited actors who played in movies for 9/11. They just didn't want to ruin the fake show. If that is true it's really fucked up.
Your extensive insight has caused me to snip.
Fucking assholes

[editline]6th September 2011[/editline]
If there's no room, there's no room.
See my above post about closing down parts of the city.
They should be allowed to attend, but 91,000 is a lot of people and I don't know the logistics of it.
That's like denying Vietnam Veterans from attending a Vietnam memorial because there's "no room." Fuck, if you're not going to invite the people that were there to see and experience 9/11, who is worth inviting over them?
They should be allowed to attend, but 91,000 is a lot of people and I don't know the logistics of it.
The deal should have been that they invited everyone that that day touched, from family of victims to the first responders in question, THEN state and federal officials. Seems like they're trying to change what the day means into something else quite frankly.
They should be allowed to attend, but 91,000 is a lot of people and I don't know the logistics of it.
91,000 is alot of people, all the more reason to let them in, those 91,000 people dug through rubble and debris looking for dead relatives and friends, we can close down parts of the city for a few hours or a day for them, we owe them that.
That's horrible.
Way to bomb my spirits.
Dude, that's fucked up.
Dude, that's fucked up.
Oh god, thanks for pointing that out. [editline]Sometime[/editline] Faze, I wasn't being sarcastic. I didn't realize there was a joke in my sentence until you pointed that out.
Dude, that's fucked up.
Yeah that post made me sad like if two airplanes hit two big office complexes. It's been 10 years already? Lets see if something might happen this 11th September.
Yeah that post made me sad like if two airplanes hit two big office complexes.
=| Get out.
Way to bomb my spirits.
You say that was on accident O' King o' Zing?
Yeah that post made me sad like if two airplanes hit two big office complexes. It's been 10 years already? Seal team 6 found those on his laptops he had in his compound.
You say that was on accident O' King o' Zing?
Yes squire. 'Twas an accident. If I wanted to make a joke I would have said something along the lines of "Man, that really brought down my spirits"
Yes squire. 'Twas an accident. If I wanted to make a joke I would have said something along the lines of "Man, that really brought down my spirits"
Basically the same joke minus bombed.
In addition, only a limited number of lawmakers from the Tri-state area will be allowed to attend.
Good. This is a memorial, not a place for political grandstanding.
They should have the 91,000 first responders and families of the victims and no-one else in that case. No room? Make room for these people.
Anybody know what they did in previous years? I mean did the first responders get to come previously? [editline]6th September 2011[/editline] Also, I thought Bush chose not to come because he wants to stay out of the spotlight. That or it was a different ceremony.
First responders should be put before the families if anything.
