So, in my place of education, it's boring. Like really boring. All that happens is people go in, learn, leave. It's a void. Nothingness. Bland. Emotionless. Like dull and shit.
This thread has nothing to do with school though. Just a tiny bit.
The building has two good features.
One of them is a fucking whopping canteen.
The other, two Kone EcoDisc elevators. Or lifts, as we Brits call them.
They work using a big wheel that spins the counterweight and the lift and hoists us between the three floors. Pretty useful, for like elevation and shit.
They are activated by average size RFID cards. You swipe, call the lift and stand back. I want to know if duplicating the card is possible. Not for misuse, afterwards I would just let it rot at the back of my mind. But I have free time, so I am up for a bit of electronics work. It's an education thing.
So, is it possible to create a clone of the card to another, new, fresh card.
Before you ask, the readers are unbranded and look solid. Here's a pic

Probably not without the proper equipment.
You need a blank card, the original card, a read/write sensor that interfaces with a computer and a computer. should take only a few seconds
Your going to have a hard time cloning a rfid card. I wish I could say more.
It is, some german guys cloned an Oyster card used on the London Underground and were able to change the credit value and everything (the information is kept on the card rather than a central database)
Also DONT put bacon near the elevator.
It is possible, but you would need the proper counterfeiting equipment and software for it.

Any idea where to pick this up?
As others have said, it would be pretty hard and you don't have access to the stuff needed.

Fookin' shexy.
Make sure to post if it works.
Cool stuff... Tell us if it works later!
If I decide to buy it (I'm currentley funding a film with freinds, low on cash) I'll make a video of it in action. Anyone know what brand the reader is?

Do not use elevator when bacon is attacking
I only just got that.
:v:

I think it means don't use the elevator as a means of defense from attacking bacon.
It would be interesting to see what other information is on the card, imagine the fun you could have if there was some value you could change that would turn it into some sort of "Maintenance" card.

That would be awesome. We also found out the key card, opens doors all over the school. By giving people these cards (that they don't know the full extent of) they have made a giant security hole in the school.
The lifts dont have an express mode though :saddowns: They need a key for it.
My dads reprogrammed debit cards before into swipe cards before but his work has all the gear for programming cards :v:
Get an Arduino and an RFID kit.

Sounds too complicate
It is, some german guys cloned an Oyster card used on the London Underground and were able to change the credit value and everything (the information is kept on the card rather than a central database)
They fought the courts and were allowed to publish how to do it. It's still not against the law.
you need a blank card and a non blank card, and a rfid reader and writer that can be bought a electronics store, read and copy to blank, voila.
elevators? Fo'real?
take the damn stairs
elevators? Fo'real?

It's a test really. And the fact that the elevators are air conditioned while the rest of the establishment melts away
I find this sort of illegal, but since you're just using it for testing, I wish you luck.
Goddamn ninjas. I was gonna post that. Also, have a look around on Defcon's website. At the last one, someone was scanning FBI RFID cards and taking information. Hilarity ensued.
