Every now and then my internet decides to stop working until I restart the router. This would be okay most of the time when I'm browsing internet, but on games like Dota 2 you get a penalty for being disconnected for too long. Windows troubleshooting says "DNS server is not responding" when I run it. I've tried using Google's DNS servers but that doesn't help. The router model is TW-EAV510 v2 (TW is short for Telewell) and my family is using the same internet, but they don't seem to encounter similiar problems. The router has four green lights when it's working normally (Power, WLAN, DLS and Internet), but when the problems happen two of them start blinking or turn completely off: WLAN and Internet.
Connection speed should be 8mbps for download speed and 4mbps for upload speed, and speedtest.net says pretty much the same. The connection is wireless because the router is too far away from my computer to connect it with a wire.
I can provide additional information if you need any.

My finnish friends (some live 100km/60 miles away) are having connection problems at the exact same time too, so maybe there's something wrong on a larger scale
Feel free to reply though if you have something helpful in mind
It's your line or router by the looks of things. If the internet light goes out your router has stopped connecting to the net. The first thing I would try is to have a look for a firmware update for your router.
If the WLAN and Internet lights are going off, there's either a problem with the modem or upstream.
If your friends have the exact same service and are getting disconnected at near the same time then it points to something being wrong with the ISP and not you. I would call them up and complain about random outages.
Thanks, the router is fairly new so I didn't think a firmware update would be available.
There seems to be one, I'll download it and if that won't fix it I'll contact the ISP.
Okay, it's a problem on the ISP's end, there's been a lot of complaints about the random outages and they've said they are trying to do something about it.
I'll mark this as solved, not because the problem would be gone, but because there's nothing I can do about it any more.
