Ever wonder what happens when you fuck with Progman and the 3 layers that overlap it? Well as of today I do. It's awesome. Steinman is just another alias as is Panda X.
Wow, that's really interesting. I also didn't know that there were layers like that.
wait what [editline]08:06PM[/editline] Explain what happened
... Holy shit. Gotta do this at my local library. :c00l:
That WMP window in the screenshot reminds me of when you win at Solataire
That WMP window in the screenshot reminds me of when you win at Solataire
iTunes :D
iTunes :D
WHATEVER Ho
here panda what theme is that? Your own special one or what? I really like the glossy look on the taskbar rather than the matte ish look of normal
So what's actually happening here to cause everything to leave trails like that?

You'll have to excuse my piss poor preview image. [editline]07:41PM[/editline]
So what's actually happening here to cause everything to leave trails like that?
I minimized the desktop for lack of better explanation.
So did you figure out why there are more than one layer? [editline]06:01PM[/editline]
That WMP window in the screenshot reminds me of when you win at Solataire
Same lol.
So did you figure out why there are more than one layer? [editline]06:01PM[/editline] Same lol.
"Because"
I'd actually like to know why too. In GNU/Linux, there's usually two layers. One as X11's bare layer and one for the desktop image and files.
I'm not really sure what you did, but to me it looks like you put your desktop in a window that you can minimize and expand and move. Is that pretty close to what you did?
Damn, That's cool! Very nice.
wait seriously program :P Though reminds me of the crash form time to time when it redraws windows like that. Kept happening on xp
I'm not really sure what you did, but to me it looks like you put your desktop in a window that you can minimize and expand and move. I tried to do it in steam though it just made the top part of steam rounded.
This explains why Microsoft named it "Windows". I always thought of the desktop as layers such as this, but to the average user, it looks like a wallpaper and icons. I wish someone would come up with a 3D layering desktop. I don't mean anything like bumptop, but more like the compiz cube, and the open windows on the desktop float with 3-dimensional distance between them. You could hold the left-click button down, and use the scrollwheel to move the windows up or down in the layer stack. The darkness and shadows would change according to each layer depth. I should Gimp a mock-up to explain what i mean. :frown:
Compiz's cube is so fucking stupid. Just like Flip3D. All you need is a 2D window manager which is more efficient.
Compiz's cube is so fucking stupid. Just like Flip3D. All you need is a 2D window manager which is more efficient.
3D graphics are here to stay, I might as well put it to good use. Even my pathetic GeForce 6150 Go! can handle compiz with only 16MB VRAM.

Well if anyone is wondering the layers was caused by the Desktop Window Manager. More info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desktop_Window_Manager
what are you talking about the layers are clearly made by bill gates on an ad hoc basis [editline]03:57PM[/editline] fucks sake read a book moran
Then how come it's still there when DWM is shut down?
Because you're obviously a wizard.
Because you're obviously a wizard.
Wizards are very useful with installing programs
Does it cause any problems if you move it over to a second monitor or maximize one on top of another? I could imagine it just freaking out.
My second monitor remained fine though the first time. Second time it messed up as well. Though it has the same height pixel-wise so the windows just spanned both desktops.
reminds me of how when you minimize a window, it actually places the window at something like -5000 -5000
reminds me of how when you minimize a window, it actually places the window at something like -5000 -5000
It'd be offscreen then. It sets it at a negative value to hide the border. (Example: -8, -8)
