• computer freezes up completely

Whatever picture it's showing, all sound stops, I can let it sit there for hours and it'll do nothing. all I can do is reboot, which isn't instant, it takes like 10 seconds to shut off, sits for 10 seconds doing nothing, then turns on again. I was suspecting the graphics card at first, but I tried changing that, and it still does it. it does it more while under load. http://speccy.piriform.com/results/xBptC2aB8VYUCCZ0TH6fYw6
It could be possible that both graphics cards are overheating due to a general high temperature in the computer or a high temperature caused by a component close to the graphics card. Did you check the temps with speccy whilst playing?
I have HWmonitor on the right monitor, and when it crashes it usually is around 70 degrees, I've had it up to 84 degrees once without doing any harm to anything, I quickly turned the fan upto 70% after this and it went down to 70 again, and it didn't crash. I also tried taking one out, that's how I'm running right now, it doesn't do it as much, but it does it around the same amount as when it started happening with two. I've been told to check my ram too, but never could be assed to do this, as I didn't know a good and fast way to do it. [editline]1st November 2011[/editline] taking one out as in it usually runs two 460's in SLi, forgot to mention that.
70 degrees is really hot
70 degrees is really hot
not really no.
So your PC will just randomly freeze? This happened not long back to me and all I needed to do was to replace my CMOS battery.
Idling at 40-60 is acceptable. 100 is normally the "worry zone" for idling and load, 130+ Is the OHSHITSON zone.
So your PC will just randomly freeze? This happened not long back to me and all I needed to do was to replace my CMOS battery.
as in, take it out then back in, or get a completely new one?
Get a completely new one, they're only £1. However it might not be, signs of a failing CMOS battery is something like your computer date and time changing sometimes on startup.
I haven't had that, I'll see if it happens anymore, it hasn't happened the last few days.
