• Will I need an upgrade for my Power supply should I choose to buy a 7950?

Hi facepunch, I am looking at a gigabyte 3gb radeon 7950 at the moment. The cheapest I can find in an Australian site is $330 (including postage) here: http://www.umart.com.au/newindex2.phtml?bid=5 Obviously, I am living in Australia. What I really wanted to know was if my current PSU would support the new card. The minimum requirement appears to be 500W, which is what my PSU is. I am unsure of it's quality because it appears to be one of those cheap ones that come with the case (although it has supported my 8GB 1333 RAM and MSI N430 GT for almost 2 years). I managed to find my case after some searching: http://www.megabuy.com.au/numan-1285b-atx-black-case-with-500w-psu-p359320.html I couldn't find a Numan site, so that's a bad sign. I don't want to buy a $330 card just for it to blow up my PC. Also, if I do need a new PSU, could I reuse my case or would it be better to just get a completely new one? P.S if you know of somewhere where I can get the 7950 (in Australia) cheaper, please tell me.
According to http://www.staticice.com.au/index.html umart is the cheapest ($298) (without shipping), but as you shown with shipping its 330 maybe if you can find a local MSY or search on the site i linked to find local stores around where you can pick it up at. As for your PSU i would probably replace it for a more solid one like a Corsair builder 500w or Silverstone Strider etc. Anyone of them should fit into your case as it seems to be a standard Mid ATX case

Or is it attached to the case like some sort of fungi, since it came with the case?
It should be able to be unscrewed, the screws for unmount it will either be on the outside at the back where the psu is mounted or inside. Just make sure to ground yourself always.
I have a Corsair Builder 500W and 7950 with no problems whatsoever, however as everyone else has said, make sure you go with a good brand because more often that not the ones that come with the case cannot put out anything near their rated wattage.
