The University Admissions Thread 2012
Hi Facepunch.
This thread to basically discuss everything University related, such as;
- Courses and corresponding university that you will be attending.
- Money and Finance
- Accommodation
- Anything else related
Hope everybody that has conditions to university makes them in august.
I'm going to Aberdeen University to study (MEng) petroleum engineering, looks like a really nice course. I'll probably just stay at home and save up a bit more money before moving into a flat.
2 years ago I applied through UCAS for Queens uni in Belfast although I turned it down because the course wasn't going to be what i thought it was. I used the Irish one instead CAO (From Wicklow in Ireland) great system though. Anyway second year exam start 2mo and facepunch is most interesting this time of year,,, for some reason!
I'm going to Kingston university in September for the art foundation course :)
I'll be applying for their accommodation, hopefully my flatmates won't be bumholes.
I've got a reading list and a summer project already which is pretty daunting.

Which course did you apply for? My dad teaches at Queens!
BSc Honours in finance, I ended doing financial services and investment analysis
I just got into Biology at the University of Victoria, where I already live. It has a great program, and a direct connection to the med school I want to attend.
YEEEEEEAH!
Not an acceptance, but I'll be moving into my 2nd year at Teesside, on the Games Art Pathway. Just finished my first year.
Not an admission per se, but one of my subject professor asked my partner and I to strongly consider post-graduate research.
hello, Dr. Contag
Are foreigners welcome? I'm applying for international politics in university of Helsinki and the entrance exams are a nightmare. I've been putting 4-6 hours a day 5-6 days a week toward the exams since March but it's still not looking very good!
At least I got a backup plan with BSc in international business administration
Going to UWE to study BSc Computing. Woo~
Got 5 acceptances out of 5 applications...It's quite hard to decide where to go, although I'm leaning heavily towards UofT right now.
UofT: First year General Engineering
UWaterloo: Computer Science, Co-op, Honors
McGill: Computer Schience
UBC: Engineering
SFU: Mechanical Engineering
I have a conditional thats ABB at higher, if I get AAC will I still get in?

I'd email the uni and ask. What subjects are you doing at higher this year?
Got a conditional of BB for Edinburgh uni...really want to go there.
Also, got an unconditional for Edinburgh Napier...don't really want to go there.

Hey man I'm going to UWE to study Graphic Design! Is BSc Computing based at the Frenchay campus or Bower Ashton? What are you doing about accommodation mate?

It's just that I've always aimed to go to Edinburgh from a young age.
Good luck with your exams though! Also, what course have you applied for? I'm going to be doing Accounting.
I've got an offer of AAB for the new Clinical Applied Psychology course at Exeter university. The normal offer is AAA, i have no prior work experience and if I get AAA they'll pay me a £1000 bursary. I guess they really want me for some reason?
The course owns though because it's actually the very first of its type being taught in the UK. When I finish I'll be almost fully qualified to work as a psychological practitioner. Hooray!
Studing a Masters in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of York. Ask if you wish.
AAB for MEng Computer Science. Should be swell
I'm studying Computer Science next year, and thanks to my previous module results I've pretty much already got the A-Level grades I need to get into my first choice, so all is well!
Also, have people applied for accommodation yet? I think I have to do it after results come in but I've heard of some unis doing it now.

holy shit you bastard
that sounds pretty fucking win-win to me man! congrats :)
AAA for physics with year in NA at Lancaster Uni.
Major in Computer Science with a double minor in Mathematics and Physics at Stony Brook University in New York.
Rooming with a friend who's majoring in Computer Engineering.
Engineering Physics at KTH in Stockholm next year. Quite sure I'm getting in, unless I get unlucky (in which case I fall back on the second choice, then get to jump into EngPhys in the second year).
Biomedical engineering at University of Florida, how hard is my ass going to get kicked, gentlemen?
Starting a Msc at the Chinese University of Hong Kong this September
Never been to the city before, kinda terrified. Also haven't really begun to search for a flat yet.
