• Need a new internet connection - Which is best?

Hey guys, So my ISP was a piece of garbage. I know that sounds harsh, but long story short, they screwed me over big time and took my patience to boiling point. I'm looking for a new ISP and in doing so, I stumbled across many options, which is best? If it matters (which it probably will), I'm in Australia. There were two connections in my house at the time. Mine and everybody else's. Everyone else is using ADSL2+ while I was using cable. That cable connection is now disconnected to it not working in the first place and due to the ISP deliberately sending me on a wild goose chase in order to avoid admitting they had no clue how to fix my internet connection. Now everyone uses the internet extensively here, as a hardcore gamer, I'd like the speediest connection I can get, hence why I got a separate connection in the first place. Now upon looking for a new ISP and internet connection, I don't know which option is the best. Is it: 1) Cable 2) ADSL2+ 3) Fibre Optic 4) NBN (National Broadband network for those who don't know or do know) Now I heard I cannot run two separate connections with the same speed (eg - I can't have two separate ADSL2+'s running in the same household). Is this true? Either way, I need some help on figuring out which is the best option for me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
You're fucked. Contact the local phone company and ask if you can get adsl. You didn't specify if your household has multiple adsl connections or not but depending on how your house is fed you are likely limited to 2 connections total not just for you asking is the only way you will find out and even then it might take ordering it to find out for sure if they can do it or not. I know my company can't really tell for sure until someone tries to assign a cable pair for your service. I don't know about your location specifically but I know a person in perth and no you can't just call up a provider and ask for Fiber Optic service. You'd likely have to pay for a cable to be wired from the closest point to your home which costs thousands. A suggestion I can make knowing a bit about this industry is to re order cable internet I don't know if you have re sellers in aus but try one of those for cable they will jump through more hoops to get a new service working rather then fixing an existing one which can be caught up in bullshit. Btw ADSL2+ if the exchange is about 1km away max is around 20 mbps down and 800kbps up that's if the phone lines are the correct gage of wire and has few gage changes. Each connection needs a pair of wires from the exchange to the modem though.
You can contact your local service provider for wireless connection like wifi. It's really great and flawless connection so far. I am using this connection in my area. And of course many of them into my area also using this. Great service so far. No drop connection or low speed. However, where are you from?
