Former US President Bill Clinton says he believes military action against Iran over its nuclear energy program is not the right course of action to take.
In an interview with CNN on Monday, Clinton said he thinks Iranians will all become alienated and oppose the West if military action is taken against the country.
He also raised the possibility that the decision to impose sanctions on Iran may not lead to any concrete results.
He went on to say that Iran was the only country in the world where the people voted six times during his presidency, adding that Iranians elected the most progressive president twice.

Clinton's comments contradict earlier statements by US officials that Iranians are not given the right to freely elect their president.
While the US possesses and has used nuclear weapons in the past, Washington, in a politically-motivated move, has imposed unilateral sanctions on Iran, which does not possess nuclear weapons and does not seek to produce such weapons.
In addition, the International Atomic Energy Agency has conducted numerous inspections of Iran's nuclear facilities and has never discovered evidence of diversion.
I'd like to emphasis this statement.

No shit they'd oppose the West if we attacked them
Yeah, it's kinda obvious they would.
It'd be a nice example on why the Middle East hates the West.

care to explain
How can you have a progressive president if you're a theocracy?
They elected the guy twice, chances are they are pretty happy with how things are going.
And attacking Iran could be the worst shit we ever do.
Attacking Iran is a fucking stupid idea.
"Hey guys, how can we make middle-eastern relations even worse?"
"Oh, I know! Lets randomly launch an assault on Iran!"

No, attacking Iraq could be the worst shit we ever do.
Guys....Attacking ANY nation would be stupid and irresponsible.
No, attacking Iraq could be the worst shit we ever do.
What?
That war is over, that was pretty easily won actually.
Iran on the other hand would be quite a formidable war, considering the amount of countries around it that would jump in and help them.
Never knew the genocide of kurds was a progressive movement...
Someone who is reasonably sane is opposed to a stupid and irresponsible idea that no sane person would ever support????? Color me aghast

Aren't you isolationist?
War is outdated. How can we expect to prosper as a species if the only type of predation we face is against each other? Unfortunately, this ideal "dream" is unfeasible to most audiences.
Maybe one day we will evolve to a point where we as a race can realize our hypocrisy and put fighting over land and ideals aside.
Little children know that killing someone is a wicked and terrible act, so why is it that our politicians can justify the murder of thousands of human lives? Just because it's war doesn't make it okay.

That's if those politicians don't get us destroyed as a whole race.
Well, good for Bill. He's trying so desperately to be relevant nowadays...
Aren't you isolationist?
No. Non-interventionist.
There's a difference.

None/one.

Well hell, we've survived 10,000+ years already killing each other off. We're like roaches. There will always be a few around to keep us going.

Did you get that from Ron Paul's book?
I never even heard of that term before I read it.

As a shock it may be to all of you, I never actually have bought a book by him.
Non-interventionism is when you stay out of the internal affairs of other nations, as well as the external affairs of nations that you have no business in. Everything else is fine, such as free trade.
I would rather be every country's buddy and friend and do well with business with them than shoot them dead.

you p. got the term from him though
you don't need to read his book to know what terms he has used

I highly doubt he, all by himself, coined that term

Seems like lately, Iran is the red-headed step child out there...hell, Saudi Arabia is letting Israelis set up gear on Saudi soil in preperation of a possible attack against Iran...

Saudi Arabia is full of Arabs, and Iran is full of Persians. They don't usually get along with each other, so it's no surprise.
I guess the Arabs in Saudi Arabia dislike Persians more than Jews. Who would of thought.
There's not really any reason to attack Iran
even if they have a nuclear energy program.

yeah, ron paul coined a phrase which is literally the prefix 'non' in front of an established word
nice posting

hint: the words you are looking for are religious rather than ethnic groups

So it's Isolationism without Protectionism?
I'm alright with that.
