We are cleared for launch... "Bitcoin makes a pitch for 'safe and sane' regulation"
Representatives from the agencies told the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs ahead of a hearing tomorrow that the digital money offers benefits and carries risks, like any other online-payment system, according to letters they released before the meeting. Patrick Murck, general counsel for the Bitcoin Foundation, will appear before the Senate Homeland Security Committee for the first congressional hearing on virtual currency. Murck, in prepared testimony, said he hoped Congress would "chart a safe and sane regulatory course" without tamping down the economic and societal potential for the digital economy and Bitcoin. As they say: BUY BUY BUY What I think: The possibility of this being a bubble is alot less than what it was, and is probably going to continue to rise above $1000 by the end of this week. Discuss!
SELL SELL SELL
"chart a safe and sane regulatory course" without tamping down the economic and societal potential for the digital economy and Bitcoin.
big gov gonna crush big crypto-curency. it also means that regulations will stomp down ontop of the massive growth of the currency, which at this point looks like the stock market circa 1920
Every time I see a thread like this I kinda regret not buying any when they were like $1 each. Although knowing my terrible luck, it would have probably taken a nose dive.
I wish I didn't miss their drop to $300 and bought then. I'm just waiting for the next crash to buy.
Like the guy above me, i was debating buying when it was at $300. I would still buy it now but i still doubt it's really worth it.
Not this 'to the moon' shit again Why has the name of an excellent game has been associated with a retarded emoticon
the irony of my username is that i hate bitcoins [editline]17th November 2013[/editline] if i was the dude that made bitcoins at this point i'd just sell all of my btc just to watch the market destabilize
this currency sucks. but it helps me get weed so i love it
I'm hoping Sobotnik is right, and I hope he is right again, and again, so I can invest and make a quick buck and then laugh as btc collapses in a few years.
I don't understand how a currency with absolutely no backing to it can possibly be worth this much, this seems like it could crash horribly at any moment.
Not this 'to the moon' shit again Why has the name of an excellent game has been associated with a retarded emoticon
The funny thing is that To The Moon is a shit game.
i literally don't even understand where this value is coming from, what can you even fucking purchase with bitcoins? silkroad went offline like a month and a half ago, what are people still doing with these things this is the biggest fucking bubble ever, it's going to be hilarious when it hits single-digit dollar values again
Imagine the bitcoin economy as people passing poop back and forth forever, paying slightly more each time for the honour of having the poop.

Apart from that, I think its mainly for things you can already buy for real money?
Well this is a bit crazy
Well the value is getting higher and higher...
The bubble grows larger
Trying to buy bitcoin in Canada is a pain.
i wanted to buy 50 bitcoins a couple years back for like 20$ and my family was calling me retarded and that it wasn't real money fuck my life
What the fucking shit are Bitcoins. I tend to stay out of this shady seeming stuff, so I am rather confused. Is it some kind of internet only, not quite real currency for edgy people?
I hope bitcoin dies soon, so I can stop feeling bad about not getting in on it early.
