Steam Family Sharing allows close friends and family members to play one another's games while earning their own Steam achievements and saving their own game progress to the Steam cloud. It's all enabled by authorizing a shared computer.
mite b cool
how far will this let you lend?
oh and sign up for the beta by joining the group: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/familysharing
Sweet.
Now I don't have to buy 2 copies of a game to play with my Twin.
Can a friend and I share a library and both play at the same time?
No, a shared library may only be accessed by one user at a time.
Wait, nevermind...
Nice my brother has a few games i don't have.

A game cannot be played by two people at the same time
I was just reading this and thinking to myself "its a shame it requires a shared PC" but then the wording later on seems like it doesn't.
I really cannot wait to see how this develops, and the entire concept of lending digital games. This could make steam an even better platform.
Excellent. Now I don't need to rebuy XCOM when I move out!
Neat!

I think you have to authorize the computer, then anyone who signs into that computer has the option to request to borrow a game and you get an email to confirm/deny. So once you setup a shared device (i.e. a friend's computer) they can ask to borrow your games regardless of where you are.
YES! Oh, how I've been longing for this.

Yeah that is what it sounds like, it just isn't very clear at the start of it.

"at a given time" to me suggests that you can de-authorise a computer and add a new one.
this will give my brother a chance to leech off of me, because i have all the games he has and more lol.
This is awesome. This was one of few features announced for Xbone that made me think "Cool!".
I love you Steam.
I see a possibility to create a thread on FP where users can share games that they don't play in exchange for another share
OH GOD YES!
Sweet!
This is a cool feature.
Well Microsoft, you fucked it up.
Valve has the ball and they gon run it right out the stadium

You share your entire library not single games, two people cannot use the library at once
Very nice, my brother really wants to play Max Payne 3 which I happen to have on my account.

If I share with someone I can't play any game at all or just the one he's playing? Does this apply for nonsteam games running through steam?
Very nice, my brother really wants to play Max Payne 3 which I happen to have on my account.
You probably won't be able to lend Max Payne 3 since that requires a CD key.
Just in time for my birthday!
This is an awesome idea.
Me, my dad and my brother used to share the same Steam account until we got our own accounts, of course I got to keep the original.
This is a great idea, I wish Steam had this years ago.

Well, there is still hope. I think at worst I would have to let him use my RGSC account.
