Compiled kernel, it can't see > 871mb of my RAM...

So I've been compiling a ricer kernel for my laptop for a while... but only noticed yesterday that linux is only using ~870mb of my RAM. I know it's not a problem with my RAM because the BIOS screens report the full 2Gb.
I guess I forgot to configure the kernel to use more than the lowmem or whatever, when doing make menuconfig...? I have PAE enabled, and it's only 2Gb anyway, which is in the bounds of the address space on my 32bit laptop :\
Can anyone help me with this, because googling this isn't very helpful.
EDIT: I think I didn't have PAE enabled after all; I had it configured to use over 4Gb of RAM through some other method instead of using my 2Gb through PAE.
Don't forget to compile with -Oso-fucking-fast compiler flags.
