Why are they all of the back of houses and other such buildings?
I would love to explore that town. Yes.
Turn down the exposure in some of them, the sky is a bit too bright.
There's nothing in those pictures that makes me go "wow". Try different lighting styles, maybe go on the roof of some buildings, or in them. Like profile shots...
looks worse than Columbus Ohio does.
They're all very boring. Nothing stands out, and they're way too bright.

Well, all your pictures are over exposed. All your photos are uninteresting, boring, and just bland in general. What makes it worse is you tried to photoshop one of the pictures and it made it worst.
Photography is what you make it, you can make a generally boring subject in to something interesting by looking at it from a different aspect or angle. Don't be afraid to get up close to your subject. Some of your images are out of focus too.
I can tell just by looking at these you most likely went though fairly quickly and just started snapping pictures without putting and thought in to it.
Also don't blame the camera, camera is merely a tool, it doesn't control the creativity of the user. I've seen professional looking photos taken simply with a point and shoot camera, so you would be surprised. Plus i used to use a 35mm black and white film camera, it was a 10-15 year old camera but some of my best work came from that camera because it forces you to take a good picture and be creativity. No level of editing will make a picture super awesome, the picture has to be of quality before you even start the editing process.
Though don't take my comments personally, I'm merely trying to be helpful. Popular belief is that you can just pick up a camera and snap photos and call it true photography, but it doesn't work like that. I've been taking photos on and off for a few years and I still have MUCH to learn. Photography is a learning process itself, over time you'll pick up new techniques and creative ideas. I like to think of photography as a never ending learning adventure. But that being said, photography is what you make it and it only goes as far as your creativity can go.
This sums up pretty much all of Ohio. Most places here in Cincinnati look like that too.
