Bush in Baghdad last year had a taste of his own medicine Tuesday when he nearly got beaned by a shoe thrower at a news conference in Paris. Muntadhar al-Zeidi ducked and the shoe hit the wall behind him. "He stole my technique," al-Zeidi later quipped. The identity of the new shoe-thrower — and his motivation — weren't immediately clear, but he appeared to be an Iraqi. It was not known if the intruder was a journalist or just pretended to be one to attend the news conference at a center for foreign reporters. Whatever his motive, the confrontation didn't stop there. Al-Zeidi's brother, Maithan, chased the attacker in the audience and — what else? — pelted him with a shoe as he left the room. Muntadhar al-Zeidi, a TV reporter, became a hero to many opponents of the Iraq war when he hurled his shoes at Bush during a news conference in Baghdad in December 2008 while shouting: "This is from the widows, the orphans and those who were killed in Iraq." Al-Zeidi was quickly wrestled to the ground by security guards, then imprisoned for nine months before being released in September. The Paris news conference was held so he could talk about his experiences.
AHAHAH. oh wow.
Who throws a shoe? Honestly...

Ahahah "he stole my technique!" This guy is awesome. And the fact that his brother pelted the guy with his shoe as he fled, hahah.
Who throws a shoe? Honestly...
You obviously do not understand their culture enough.
You obviously do not understand their culture enough.
It's very disrespectful to throw shoes in Iraq. When they took down the statue of Sadam, they were hitting it with their shoes in an act of disrespect.

Pretty bizarre that throwing your shoe is newsworthy.
It's very disrespectful to throw shoes in Iraq. When they took down the statue of Sadam, they were hitting it with their shoes in an act of disrespect.
Bill Richardson was negotiating with Saddam Hussein and he accidentally showed the bottom of his shoes while crossing his legs. Saddam got up and left and Richardson thought he was dead. He was told to apologise for the very severe insult. It's odd to think that a simple gesture you don't even think about doing in one part of the world, can get you shunned/arrested/killed elsewhere.
So by throwing a shoe he can steal a teqnique? The guy who threw it deserves a medal.
Muntadhar al-Zeidi ducked and the shoe hit the wall behind him. "He stole my technique," al-Zeidi later quipped.
Bullshit, sounds like he stole Bush's technique.
To them it's like sticking your middle finger up at someone.
I don't find that offensive
Bullshit, sounds like he stole Bush's technique.
I would have been funny if Bush attended the conference and lassoed him.
Just another average game of shoe wars, nothing special.
i like the way the brother then chased after the assailant and threw a shoe at him
Move over Star Wars, Shoe Wars has come to town.
These guys are the best.
Bullshit, sounds like he stole Bush's technique.
NO HE DIDN'T! /throws shoe
That's freakin hilarious. I love how his brother was there to back him up.
" "He stole my technique," al-Zeidi later quipped." Hahahah, funny bastard!
Sooner or later someone is going to get killed.
Shit's gonna get nasty when Iraquian football players start doing this.
Soon, shoe throwing in the middle east will become as common and meaningless as the middle finger is here.
Nearly 30 posts in, and no one has mentioned "tatse" in the title?
"shoe-thrower at Bush" just rolls right off the tongue doesn't it
