• Loughborough university disaffiliates with NUS
Loughborough Students’ Union is ending its affiliation with the NUS. After failing to meet the quorum of 4000 votes the decision of LSU’s affiliation with the NUS was referred to the Board of Trustees who today met to discuss and vote on LSU’s membership with the NUS. Several universities have been voting on potential disaffiliation from the NUS following a growing discontent with the NUS. Support for a referendum at LSU was triggered after a large number of students and the delegate team at the last NUS conference voiced an aspiration to question their NUS affiliation. Whilst LSU members had only just voted on their NUS membership a couple of months earlier, many questioned whether this was truly democratic as students were not properly informed.
Hull, Newcastle and Lincoln are also leaving. any actual reason for this or another one to burden students finances on top of £9k a year.

Because the NUS are a bunch of overblown far-left SJWs that regress our educational system, restrict freedom-of-speech and tolerance of ideals. Trying to create all universities into "safe spaces" http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/universityeducation/12158352/The-intolerant-student-Left-has-even-turned-on-me-a-lifelong-civil-rights-campaigner.html http://www.spiked-online.com/newsite/article/universities-should-be-dangerous-spaces/18234#.V1gbIJErKUk http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/apr/10/students-censorship-safe-places-platforming-free-speech Down with NUS!
NUS have been silly recently. I hope some other organisation of students can take up the legitimate role of organising protests against education cuts, increased fees and crappy conditions for lecturers.
