The White House is trying to dupe the New York Times with phony leaks
Conservative talk show host Bill Mitchell has hatched an ingenious plot to destroy the credibility of major newspapers.
Simple, right? Mitchell's theory is that the media is so hungry for unflattering information about President Trump that it will gobble up anything that feeds its narrative. When “crazy leaks” make print, Mitchell and his fellow Trump boosters can expose the falsehoods and prove once and for all that the “fake news media,” as the president calls it, is composed of a bunch of hacks.
It's brilliant! But New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman says the plan won't work.

Let's get serious for a moment: Mitchell's scheme is rather facile, but that does not mean phony leaks are not a real threat. According to Haberman, members of the Trump administration already have tried to dupe the New York Times on several occasions — presumably with tips that seem plausible and are not easily dismissed as “crazy.” Recall that before his first address to a joint session of Congress, in February, Trump said at a luncheon with TV journalists that he might talk about a compromise that would include offering legal status to some undocumented immigrants. When he took the stage, however, Trump said no such thing. CNN later quoted a senior White House official who admitted that Trump's initial remark to journalists was a “misdirection play” designed to promote favorable coverage. It seems clear that feeding false information to reporters is part of the White House playbook.
So they lie to gain favorable coverage, but then immediately tell the truth to destroy that coverage and bring on the wrath of the journalistic world?
I don't get the mind games...
"So you're saying Trump is opening a day care for immigrant children and helping their parents get permanent visas?"
"Yes."
"Really?"
"No."
:goodjob: 12D Agricola.
Surely this is breaking some law...?
Imagine thinking the New York Times, one of the most respected papers of all time, wouldn't do extensive vetting.
Not everyone is as dumb as these far right wackos.
So, they want to feed MSM fake news in order to discredit the real news that they paint as fake news because it discredits Donald, thereby inadvertently validating the real news as real news because they wouldn't be submitting fake news unless the real news was real news.
And once the real news is fake news, even good coverage of Donald would be fake news.
GG. Shame it wont work, Trump, the Times is far smarter than you.
Well NYT didn't lose any credibility but I know who ISN'T credible anymore.
The house of 'the media is fake news folks' is now spreading fake news itself in an attempt to confirm their own bias when reality didn't match up to their expectation?
This is getting ridiculous. Who's writing the script for Life right now? Is our reality presently suffering from a WGA strike?
Does it matter? The Trump administration has broken countless by this point. It means absolutely nothing as there is no drive or interest in bringing him and his cronies to justice. Laws mean nothing if nobody is there to enforce them.
"But technically" "well technically" "technically" "actually" "you are misrepresenting the problem here"
Good luck convincing anyone when the biggest copout word in the playbook exists.
The White House, meaning both Trump and his staff, really defy belief. I've heard tell that the intellectually deficient are so far removed from an understanding of how the world works and how people think that when they play at trickery, they often come up with ridiculously transparent plans that backfire instantly, because they actually believe that they're smarter than their opponents.
What we're seeing right now is that the heads of the executive branch of the US government have been replaced by loyal idiots, and so there isn't a single intelligent individual among them. Trump couldn't win a game of chess against a six-year-old.

Can you run that by me again
:snip: Redacting this for now; the source might not be the best
Meanwhile, I'm sure you could do this with alternative conservative outlets like InfoWars, Breitbart, and Stormfront, and they'd publish it without verification.
