• Bought new RAM; computer won't start up

Today I got these in the mail, to change from these. Now I have changed the memory and the computer starts up, but that LED light on my motherboard that tells if something is wrong lights up every time I turn the pc on. I have reinstalled the memories about four times and tried MemOK twice, but nothing. I changed back to the old memories and they wouldn't work either. I have tried everything I can think of but nothing works. Maybe there is some dust on the RAM slot. Usually connection problem surfaces when its dusty there.
I'll try dusting it off [editline]6th December 2011[/editline] Nope, nothing.
What processor do you have?
What processor do you have?
I think it's an i5 760 [editline]6th December 2011[/editline]
Check if any of the metal on any of the RAM bricks has gotten stuck in the slot.
Everything looks like it should. [editline]6th December 2011[/editline] I took out the CMOS battery (which is behind my GPU) and waited a couple of minutes. When I put the battery in again no warning LED lighted up, but I didn't get a picture on my screen. I have checked every cable and everything is correct. Help?
Might simply have killed something. Very, very fucked up RAM can prevent the system from starting, but it's unlikely in your case, really. I can't really say anything, other than that you should try testing the components in a different motherboard. That they, you'll narrow down on what might be wrong.

Also, check the warranty on the motherboard. If it's fried, chances are they won't be able to find out and you'll probably get it replaced. Memory is quad channel your motherboard supports only dual. Any other problems just send your stuff back with Warranty.
Don't have any irl friends, and the people I know aren't the computer-savvy type
Well, I can't do magic, so I guess you'll have to find some other way around. Do you have a motherboard speaker? As it isn't the cheapest motherboard around, I suppose you got one with the mobo. Just contact support. It's their product they should know what's wrong with it.
Apparently other people have had ths problem wwhen they installed 16gb RAM, and they never got it to work properly again
Apparently other people have had ths problem wwhen they installed 16gb RAM, and they never got it to work properly again
Then just send the motherboard back to ASUS, they're ought to replace it.
Yup, your CPU doesn't support anything more than dual channel.
Terribly sorry, I checked the serial number on the RAM and found out they're actually dual-channel (I guess I just chose the first link when I searched at corsair's webpage :downs:) But there's still the problem with the motherboard :c
I had a similar problem with my RAM a few months ago. What I did to at least get the system to boot again was take all the sticks out and try putting them in one at a time (so there's only one stick in at any one time) to try and isolate the faulty stick. Place them in the slot closest to the CPU. If none of the sticks work, try them again in the second slot from the CPU. If none of them work then the motherboard is probably at fault. In my case, it was the RAM at fault as opposed to the motherboard. Though, having just read back, it seems your old RAM doesn't work either. I'd say either reset the CMOS (take out the little button cell battery on the motherboard for five minutes then pop it back in) or try each RAM slot one-by-one with one stick of your old RAM (which you know to be working previously).
I did that, I just forgot to post it [editline]11th December 2011[/editline] Also, I sent in a support inquiry about the fact that I used dual-channel memory with a dual-channel processor and motherboard, but after about three hours, ASUS closed it :saddowns:
