I have a laptop with a manual control wheel for audio. There's something wrong with the wheel so that the audio is always too low. All my windows setting show the volume at max, so the wheel is controlling the amount of audio going to both the speakers, and the audio jack. I tried using headphones/external speaker, but it still has quiet audio because the wheel is telling the external speakers to play quieter.
I figured using some sort of volume boost software would give really bad audio quality (like when you boost any kind of audio) but I was using VLC media player, and it's built in volume control goes OVER 100%. Before the wheel error boosting the audio to max in VLC sounded terrible, but now that I have the error, it's the only way to play something at original normal audible volume. (basically VLC is boosting the audio back to normal 'loudness' by playing louder than it should)
Long story short, my laptop has sound problems, I need a program or something to install to make the audio on my laptop louder, and I'm not concerned with the typical safety issues (like blowing speakers)
There should be a control that will override the wheel if its broken, i believe it is FN ( function ) and F6, works on my moms laptop not so sure about your situation.
